GBatteries Energy Canada Inc., is advancing Smart Battery Pulse Charging and Advanced Battery Management technologies that enable rapid cold-weather battery heating, fast charging and extended battery life, and improved safety for drones and electrified mobility platforms. Manufacturing in Canada, GBatteries’ technology directly align with CAF and NATO priorities, including energy resilience, Arctic operability, and electrification of unmanned and autonomous platforms. The technology also supports dual‑use civilian markets such as drones and electric aviation.

Adapting/Adopting Engineered Product Technologies

Lumera Solar identified an opportunity to develop a deployable solar array for use within resource mining and secondary military operations. Electrical power generation in remote locations can be challenging, with current solutions requiring fuel or easily damaged flexible solar panels. Lumera Solar intends to research military markets, including specific needs, procurement processes, storage capacities, portability requirements, product durability, and distribution stipulations in order to better prepare for product research and development.

The Project goal is to enhance the single-photon detection efficiency of semiconductor single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) in the shortwave infrared region by integrating metasurface designs with the high quality InGaAs/InP APD heterostructures grown at NRC. The Project’s metasurface design, based on an array of semiconductor nanostructures, allows for enhancing the absorption efficiency and controlling the spatial absorption profile within a thinner absorption region than conventional SPADs.

This grant supports Siksika Nation, member of the Banff Indigenous Advisory Circle, to participate in the planning and preparatory work necessary to support the 2026-27 ceremonial harvest of bison in Banff National Park.

This contribution supports the exploration of options for new potential governance and technical models for a service similar to the Canadian Register of Historic Places and its related website.

This contribution supports Innu Nation in managing the budget and operating expenditures of the Cooperative Management Board for the Akami-UapishkU – KakKasuak – Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve.

This contribution agreement supports Haida Gwaii Museum Society to organize the Yahguudangang – To Pay Respect Gwaii Haanas Repatriation ceremony. This funding is part of a larger collaboration to return Haida cultural items back to their village of origin.

This contribution supports UNESCO’s activities related to the World Heritage Convention, in particular for the continued efforts of the World Heritage Centre to recognize the role of Indigenous Peoples in identifying, managing, protecting and presenting World Heritage.

The contribution supports the analysis of permafrost sustainability and the presence of unfrozen water and soil under shallow peatland ponds from data collected in Wapusk National Park and around the Churchill area. This will enable a better understanding of the long-term sustainability of permafrost under a changing climate within the park.
