The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to create and implement a national Coordinating Centre for the Canadian Research Initiative in Substance Misuse (CRISM) Network to:

• Augment capacity for and enhance coordination of the CRISM Network’s national substance use research, training and capacity building, and knowledge mobilization activities, while allowing for flexibility to meet shifting demands and needs;
• Implement a Network governance structure and create transparency and accountability in decision making and governance;
• Provide guidance and coordination efforts for diverse training and capacity building needs, including mentoring, within the Network that leverage the national expertise and infrastructure of CRISM;
• Enhance the capacity for knowledge mobilization of national and jurisdictional CRISM endeavors;
• Support involvement and engagement of relevant partners including service providers, decision makers and PWLLE of substance use and embed and apply Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) (WSC: #guidelines) best practices;
• Collaborate with the CRISM Indigenous Engagement Platform to support the engagement of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, including Urban Indigenous communities, in substance use research, knowledge mobilization and capacity development; and
• Strengthen research excellence and ensure maximum research impact through consideration of diverse biological and/or socio-cultural identity factors in the activities of the Coordinating Centre, including diverse research, training, and knowledge mobilization methods such as those based in Indigenous ways of knowing.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

1. Promote research independence and academic research career readiness of highly qualified post-doctoral researchers, clinicians and PhD-holding research associates belonging to specific underrepresented groups;
2. Increase the number of funded researchers from specific underrepresented groups conducting excellent research who secure their first independent research faculty position in a Canadian academic, health system or research institution; and
3. Provide funded researchers from specific underrepresented groups with early career support to enhance their probability of future success in obtaining independent research funding and launching successful research faculty careers in Canada that will contribute to the creation and/or use of health-related knowledge to improve the health of Canadians.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to provide seed funding to:
• build relationships among researchers, PWLE, communities, health care professionals and others with a view to developing inclusive, equitable and culturally safe iCTs;
• mobilize research collaborations aimed at identifying priorities for iCT research; and,
• develop new and transformative methods relevant to iCTs, with the potential to generate high impact results.

The Canada Graduate Scholarships-Doctoral (CGS D) Program provides financial support to outstanding eligible students pursuing doctoral studies in a Canadian university. These prestigious scholarships aim to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of scholarly achievement in undergraduate and graduate studies.
