Grants and Contributions

About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Agreement:

Demountable Wall Press and Jig

Agreement Number:

1008301

Duration: from Aug 7, 2023 to Jan 31, 2024
Description:

The need for demountable wall technology has been growing with the lack of housing and labour and supply chain shortage. Traditional partition wall building typically consists of using steel or wood studs with the labour provided by skilled framers onsite. Given the shortage of housing, time, labour and supply, it seems reasonable that demountable walls be used. The firm has investigated demountable wall systems but since most are produced with stamping for manufacturing, the cost isn’t conducive for the residential market at this time. The alternative proposed at this time, as cost-effective compromise is a demountable wall using existing and readily available off the shelf building material already used in the wall framing industry.

Refinement of the GFR90 Wearable Artificial Kidney

Agreement Number:

1008494

Duration: from Aug 7, 2023 to Mar 31, 2024
Description:

GFR90 is developing and commercializing a wearable artificial kidney used for ambulatory dialysis. Hemo-dialysis used for end stage renal disease is effective - but only when it is being used. The intermittency of dialysis creates social, economic, and medical issues. Our device allows fluid and toxin extraction (i.e., urine) on a near-continuous basis, like a healthy kidney. The device in its current iteration is 6 lbs, in vest form, and can be worn at virtually any time and during most activities during the day. The effect of this is to remove the intermittency of in-clinic dialysis and allow near-continuous, in-home dialysis which can correct the issues with in-clinic intermittency.
