Participation in the ITEA PO Days held in Berlin, Germany, Sept 11-15, 2023. Delegation led by the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) to establish relationships with key customers, end-users, and other international firms, which will help set the stage for potential Canadian projects in the upcoming EUREKA ITEA Cluster call for proposals.

The aim of the project is to develop a diet for insects based on low-value industrial residues that will be available locally. The impact on the products generated will be assessed, and the preservation of the insect ingredient will be optimized.

Phycus Biotechnologies an innovative chemical products company that develops chemical solutions for its customers that want more sustainable options and improved performance characteristics over conventional, petro-based chemical products. Our fermentation technology converts naturally derived feedstocks from sustainable woody biomass and sugarcane into cosmetic grade ingredients. At the heart of the platform is a patent pending microbe that produces glycolic acid. This project is intended to help Phycus optimize its process to reach commercial production.

This project is designed to enhance Upper Canada Growers ability to document the movement of plant materials, primarily produced in-house but also purchased, throughout their growth until final sale as nursery product or further into Orchard plantings for fruit production. Implementation of this program will allow us to improve our metrics and efficiency by giving us more reliable access to key information across all verticals. This will aid not only in traceability, but our inventory and costing processes as we will be able to view data relating to different value stages and product movement in real time.

To ensure the survival of our firm, we need to entertain ourselves and offer other innovative dairy products to stay ahead of our market and enable our rural firm to survive. The aim of this project is to help us innovate certain products and processes in order to continue our growth.

PeerX.AI understands how powerful peer support is at eradicating mental health stigma and promoting mental wellness. The firm is building a platform to leverage the potential of human connection and using AI to make peer support more scalable and effective as a pro-active treatment for mental wellness.

However, the utilization of digital mental health resources is low, with 90% of people stopping using such apps after just 7 days. To address this challenge, PeerX must be diligent in ensuring an excellent user experience (UX) to engage people on the platform to benefit from peer support. This project will focus on iterating the UX through a continuous loop of end-user testing, UX story creation, and technical implementation.
