To create value-added opportunities for the training, education and professional development of graduate students, to ensure continued improvement of asthma treatment therapies and progress towards finding a cure for asthma.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:
• Enable STBBI researchers to generate preliminary observations, data or knowledge necessary to pursue longer-term research funding in STBBI research;
• Support original, high quality STBBI projects and provide researchers the opportunity to pursue high risk health research questions which have the potential to generate novel, innovative and high impact results; and
• Stimulate innovation in STBBI research by promoting cross-disciplinary research collaborations between STBBI researchers and experts in other relevant fields in Canada.

The Project Grant program is expected to:
• Support a diverse portfolio of health-related research and knowledge translation proposals at any stage, from discovery to application, including commercialization;
• Promote relevant collaborations across disciplines, professions, and sectors; and
• Contribute to the creation and use of health-related knowledge.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

1. Promote research independence and academic research career readiness of highly qualified post-doctoral researchers, clinicians and PhD-holding research associates belonging to specific underrepresented groups;
2. Increase the number of funded researchers from specific underrepresented groups conducting excellent research who secure their first independent research faculty position in a Canadian academic, health system or research institution; and
3. Provide funded researchers from specific underrepresented groups with early career support to enhance their probability of future success in obtaining independent research funding and launching successful research faculty careers in Canada that will contribute to the creation and/or use of health-related knowledge to improve the health of Canadians.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

1. Promote research independence and academic research career readiness of highly qualified post-doctoral researchers, clinicians and PhD-holding research associates belonging to specific underrepresented groups;
2. Increase the number of funded researchers from specific underrepresented groups conducting excellent research who secure their first independent research faculty position in a Canadian academic, health system or research institution; and
3. Provide funded researchers from specific underrepresented groups with early career support to enhance their probability of future success in obtaining independent research funding and launching successful research faculty careers in Canada that will contribute to the creation and/or use of health-related knowledge to improve the health of Canadians.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

• Develop a federated pan-Canadian framework that will enable access to and analysis of genomes and associated health/environmental information, governed in a transparent, accountable and consistent way;
• Address equity, diversity and inclusion by capturing the Canadian genomic “variome” to truly represent the richness of the genomic diversity of people living in Canada, and in all its diversity by promoting the inclusion of detailed information on key identity characteristics, such as sex, gender, and other intersecting identity factors, that shape the health of all people living in Canada;
• Position the framework as a key mechanism to improve effectiveness - both from an economic and health perspective - of healthcare delivery in a learning health system context;
• Provide means and opportunities to facilitate clinical trials that are increasingly based on genomic medicine;
• Position Canada as a key player in international genomic research endeavours.

The specific objective of this funding opportunity is to recognize exemplary work and build capacity in the five cross cutting research domains of a healthy research ecosystem in keeping with both the CIHR Strategic Plan 2021-31 and the CIHR-IMHA Strategic Plan.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

¿ To support research aligned with the research opportunities identified in the companion document of the 2022 CPHO Annual Report, Generating Knowledge to Inform Public Health Action on Climate Change in Canada;
¿ To strengthen links between researchers and knowledge users, including communities, and facilitate responsive and evidence-informed decision-making on key public health and climate change issues; and
¿ To strengthen capacity to generate and apply context-specific knowledge on the public health impacts of climate change and opportunities for collective action.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

¿ To support research aligned with the research opportunities identified in the companion document of the 2022 CPHO Annual Report, Generating Knowledge to Inform Public Health Action on Climate Change in Canada;
¿ To strengthen links between researchers and knowledge users, including communities, and facilitate responsive and evidence-informed decision-making on key public health and climate change issues; and
¿ To strengthen capacity to generate and apply context-specific knowledge on the public health impacts of climate change and opportunities for collective action.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:
• To provide recognition and funding to academic health research trainees;
• To provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers.
