Creation and integration of data capture and analysis software to increase efficiency, quality and productivity in production of dual use iron castings. This technology will result in more consistent higher output and lower costs. This will improve value proposition to OEM's for both commercial and defence applications allowing for a sovereign source to be more cost competitive against overseas sources.

This project will prepare a Canadian drone software company to enter the Canadian defence and dual-use markets.
Activities include evaluating and pursuing security certifications required for government and defence procurement, conducting market research and user interviews with defence and security end-users in Canada and allied nations, attending industry conferences to build procurement relationships, and developing partnerships with defence technology providers. This project will explore ways in which we can contribute to Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy by building domestic capacity in uncrewed systems, sensor technologies, or counter-UAS capabilities.

This project will research and analyze the nutritional, operational, and procurement requirements of the Canadian defense sector to inform the development of mission-aligned, nutrient-dense snack products with dual-use civilian and military applications.

To harness and deploy entangled photons in future quantum networks, components for tuning, routing, and encoding them at cryogenic temperatures are required. The project involves an on-chip solution based on actuated microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) coupled to optical systems.

Dimatec is upgrading its automated high-temperature Metal Matrix Composite manufacturing cell to improve precision, efficiency, and reliability for dual-use defence and commercial applications while strengthening Canada’s advanced manufacturing capacity.

The project will support exploratory work to assess new applications of handheld ultrasound technology in field conditions, where portable medical imaging may be advantageous or required. This project supports innovation in Canada’s advanced medical technology sector and contributes to broader national priorities related to health innovation, advanced manufacturing, and dual-use technologies that may have both civilian and defence applications.

The goal of this project is to develop formulations and solutions to achieve consistent visual and physical characteristics n with a wood treatment process that emulates ebony with readily available essences.

Many older Canadians wish to age in place, but bathroom accessibility is a major barrier due to space, layout, and retrofit challenges. To date, there is limited guidance for the functional space and configuration requirements to support bathroom maneuvers by individuals who use assistive devices, including 1) WhMD users and 2) people who require a caregiver or support person for bathing or toileting. This study will provide essential evidence to inform discussion for the National Building Code of Canada. Findings from
this work will remove barriers for older adults, while also considering the need for minimum requirements that would allow some accessibility to be provided in tight spaces that are common in the real-world. The widespread uptake of evidence into design practice will be supported by engaging the technical committees developing requirements for the National Building Code of Canada (NBC) in this area.
