P012994001: The project aims to support more than 16,000,000 young people (particularly young women and youth with disabilities) with skills, enabling them to secure jobs, take on entrepreneurial opportunities, and undertake volunteer and advocacy efforts for climate action.?The project brings together youth-led organizations, civil society organizations, foundations, technology platforms, governments, and private sector partners, to support young people to develop and deliver on climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies through gender-responsive approaches.
Project activities include: (1) strengthening the transferable skills of 10,000,000 youth on climate resilience and adaptation in their communities through volunteerism, skills development, workshops, and developing disaster risk reduction plans; (2) supporting 2,000,000 students to build climate resilience in their communities; (3) training 700,000 young people to develop green entrepreneurial mindsets and problem-solving skills in designing social enterprises. They aim to address the most pressing environmental challenges in their communities; (4) providing 400,000 young eco-entrepreneurs with access to opportunities for green skilling, advocacy, community engagement and pitching their green business ideas through a digital marketplace; and (5) strengthening the green skills of 3,000,000 young people through SMS technology.

P012994002: This project aims to connect 4.6 million youth to skills development and job opportunities through Generation unlimited’s digital initiatives that equip youth for a better world. The initiative fosters skills development, online safety, and inclusive platforms for networking and accessing opportunities. It prepares youth for the rapidly evolving technology landscape, where artificial intelligence and innovation are redefining the future of work. The gender-responsive digital initiatives address systemic gender barriers, including lack of digital literacy, limited internet access, and stereotypes that discourages girls from pursuing tech and tech-enabled careers. The initiative aims to focus on three key pillars of Generation unlimited’s programming framework. This includes digital platforms for career development, digital skilling platform, and technology-based agribusiness program.

This grant represents Canada’s institutional support to Generation Unlimited (GenU). GenU uses these funds and other donors’ funding to achieve its mandate.

Launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2018, and hosted by UNICEF, GenU is a global public- private-youth partnership that brings together young people, UN organizations, non-governmental organizations, governments and leaders, including Heads of State, CEOs, Heads of UN agencies, and civil society champions to co-create and deliver innovative solutions for youth on a global scale.

GenU aims to reach over 300 million youth, focusing on young women, in 89 countries through education, training, skills and opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and social impact by 2026. Project activities include: (1) providing young people (ages 10 to 24) outside formal schooling with opportunities for training, skill development, mentorship, and additional education; (2) creating connections between young people and quality work opportunities; (3) facilitating an entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurial skills in young people through training and access to finance and networks; (4) supporting young people to participate as agents of change in youth-led campaigns, volunteer opportunities, civic engagement and social impact programs; (5) connecting schools, communities and young people to the Internet; and (6) scaling access to open-source software and digital public goods.

Enhancing women’s participation in governance and decision making in Kenya through National capacity development workshops and community advocacy in Bomet, Elgeyo Marakwet, Lamu and Nairobi Counties.

Strengthening digital literacy for increased participation and social inclusion in Kenya for women and youth through advocacy.

Scaling up access to justice for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQI+) persons in Kenya’s Coastal Counties through legal counseling, awareness raising and documentation.

The funding supports projects that enable seniors to age at home under two streams: .• In-Home Support Pilot Projects.• Scaling Up for Seniors. . .In-Home Support Pilot Projects stream.Provides funding to seniors-serving organizations to expand delivery of volunteer-based services to low-income and otherwise vulnerable seniors to help them age at home and provide a service that helps seniors navigate and gain access to services provided by other organizations active in the local area. .Scaling Up for Seniors stream.Provides funding to expand services that have already demonstrated results in helping seniors age at home.

The overarching objective of the Union Training and Innovation Program aims to strengthen apprenticeship training systems to better support a skilled, inclusive, certified and productive trades workforce by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of training provided. .The streams have the following specific objectives: .Stream 1 (Equipment) will increase investment in training equipment and materials for higher quality training, leading to a more skilled and productive trade workforce. .Stream 2 (Innovation in Apprenticeship) will support innovation and enhanced partnerships to address long-standing and complex challenges that limit apprenticeship outcomes. .Stream 3 (Women in Construction Fund [WCF]) will support projects that expand or replicate successful models to encourage more women to participate and succeed in apprenticeship and the skilled trades. Stream 4 (Trades Exploration and Experience Program) will support projects that encourage Canadians to explore, prepare for, participate and succeed in apprenticeship and skilled trades careers. This stream is limited to participants who are not registered apprentices..
