Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Operating at Extremes: Gallium Nitride Quantum Sensors
1040497
The highbond strength makes it inherently radiation hard, while the wide bandgap allows for operation at high temperature (or room temperature with reduced carrier concentration). In the Project,GaN material properties subject to heavy irradiation will beexplored, along with two-types of sensors.

Beyond the PLOB Bound: Multimode Quantum Networks for Sensing and Metrology
1040641
The Project aims to overcome fundamental limits in quantum communication and establish Canada as a leader in quantum networking. Today’s systems are restricted by photon loss in fibers, where the so-called PLOB bound sets the ultimate limit for secure direct communication. The project team’s approach introduces a multimode, cavity QED-based repeater architecture with chiral light-matter coupling.

Pathways to Inclusion and Resilience
7472837 P016981001
The project aims to collaborate with a select group of OSCE participating States to strengthen societal resilience to uphold state stability and sovereignty. It would address the root causes and drivers of intolerance and hate by countering harmful narratives and fostering conditions for constructive and peaceful relations among individuals and communities of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, prioritizing support for communities most impacted by current international conflicts—such as Muslims and Jews—and those identified by OSCE’s annual hate crime reporting as most at risk of discrimination and security challenges. Project activities include: (1) updating existing curricula to include learning modules on dialogue, on how faith/religion or belief can support the promotion of human rights, and community cohesion; (2) conducting five trainings for criminal justice professionals to learn about hate crimes, hate crime victim support and training methods; (3) conducting three diagnostic workshops to identify gaps and providing recommendations for national-level improvements in hate crime recording, data collection and hate crime victim support; (4) carrying out six national meetings on the security of Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities to enhance co-operation between key stakeholders on addressing the security needs of these communities.

WORLD BANK CLEAN ENERGY AND SIDS RESILIENCE FACILITY (CESR)
7475061 P015393001 P015393002
The CESR Facility will support projects under four distinct windows: (i) Technical Assistance, to support capacity-building initiatives, policy and regulatory reforms, and targeted interventions, including efforts to address gender equality gaps in the energy and blue economy sectors; (ii) Energy Transition, which will accelerate the shift away from fossil fuels by financing renewable energy infrastructure, energy efficiency, and grid modernization in middle-income and creditworthy low-income countries; (iii) SIDS Renewable Energy, which will facilitate access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy in SIDS; and (iv) SIDS Blue Resilience, aimed at enhancing climate resilience in coastal and marine ecosystems, with a focus on nature-based solutions, sustainable fisheries, and marine infrastructure adaptation.
