Retrofit of an Indigenous health centre in Gros Cap IR49, ON to improve the building energy efficiency, accessibility, safety, patient privacy, and to better serve the medical needs of the community. It includes adding a separate entrance and waiting area so treatment rooms can be confidential, reconfiguring examination space and adding a sink for infection prevention and control, adding a multi-use program and meeting space, reconfiguring the office/patient meeting spaces to be larger and safer, and also upgrading the building envelope, HVAC system, and installing solar panels.

Retrofit of an ageing arena in Gretna, MB to support community recreational services. It includes upgrades to the building's envelope, HVAC system, low-e ceiling, washrooms, entrance accessibility, and accessibility signage.

This retrofit project will produce extremely high energy savings and GHG reductions for a community centre. The centre will serve as an accessible location for new immigrants, seniors, and youth in a rapidly growing district.

The new Nature Centre will re-envision and replace an end-of-lifecycle building that has been the anchor of outdoor and environmental education programming at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area for decades. Based on universal design and net-zero carbon principles, construction of this new building will create a community hub where people of all ages and abilities who live, work and play in the Lake Simcoe region can access award-winning, innovative programming that connects them to nature while building environmental knowledge and awareness. The 750 square meter, multi-purpose building will enable us to respond and adapt to our growing communities and their changing demographics.

New community centre in Mistawasis Nehiyawak First Nation, SK to provide a modern, safe, and secure meeting place on reserve, primarily for important events including funerals and wakes, governance, debates, non-school education programs, seniors’ activities, and public meetings.

Retrofit of an unused Elementary School in Bradford West Gwillimbury, ON to be repurposed as a Community Centre for underserved populations, providing a centralized, easily accessible location for a variety of social service agencies. The project includes replacing all existing equipment with high energy efficiency alternatives, redoing the building envelope, increasing wall insulation, a new roof with new insulation, and replacing the windows with low-e, argon filled alternatives.

The proposed building improvements will address structural deficiencies, increase accessibility, and drastically reduce the building's climate footprint by a 69.6% reduction in GHG emissions and 70.8% in energy savings.

Purchase 2 hybrid mini vans to add to the existing fleet of 4 vehicles to provide door-to-door pre-booked public transportation in Cumberland County, as well as communities located near the Nova Scotia/New Brunswick border in southern New Brunswick. The Cumberland County Transportation Service is a member of Rural Rides Transportation Association.

Purchase 2 new vehicles to expand Trans County Transportation Society's fleet of accessible vehicles to provide day-to-day transportation services (door-to-door, wheelchair accessible and pre-booking transit services) and medical shuttle services in Annapolis County and western Kings County of Nova Scotia.

The objective of this Supplements to the NSERC PDF Program AO is to award a grant supplement to postdoctoral researchers who will have been awarded an NSERC postdoctoral fellowship under NSERC’s PDF program.
