Grants and Contributions

About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Scale up and validation of new oyster growing system

Agreement Number:

1032120

Duration: from Jul 1, 2025 to Mar 3, 2026
Description:

The project involves the experimental validation of a newly developed variable buoyancy oyster farming system designed by King Aquaculture Inc. Originally tested in larger formats, the system has been optimized into a smaller, more manageable version. The goal is to enhance the productivity and sustainability of oyster aquaculture by comparing the performance of this new system with traditional floating cage systems.
In 2024, the project focused on testing this smaller version of the variable buoyancy system at an experimental farm set up on a 5-hectare lease (MS-1236) in Bedec, NB. Key activities included monitoring oyster growth, mortality, and yield and assessing environmental impacts such as sediment accumulation. These experiments AI

Development of Novel EGFR Inhibitors as Cancer Therapeutics

Agreement Number:

1032219

Duration: from Jul 1, 2025 to Mar 31, 2026
Description:

Firm would like to design and develop novel EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) inhibitor cancer therapeutic that improve selectivity to allow irreversible inhibition to overcome resistance mutations. EGFR plays a central role in cell proliferation and survival. Aberrant EGFR signaling is a driver mutation in many tumors, making it an ideal and validated target for cancer therapy. Despite many pharmaceutical companies actively advancing EGFR inhibitors, drug resistance and severe side effects remain unsolved challenges that need to be addressed.
