The “Youth Reintegration Program” is a pilot project that will provide evidence-based case management support to youth in conflict with the law in the Regional Municipality of York. The program will specifically target justice-involved Indigenous, Black, and other racialized youth by providing them with reintegration support to reduce their recidivism. Through community partnerships, the project will help youth establishing positive support systems, increasing social and emotional learning skills, accessing healthcare for physical and mental health needs, addressing food insecurity, acquiring stable housing and employment, and obtaining education. Ultimately, the community as a whole will benefit as youth who are given the skills and resources to make positive choices are less likely to become further involved in the criminal justice system, thus contributing to a safer community.

Through the "BIPOC Youth Crime Prevention Project", the Calgary John Howard Society strives to support the increasing number of black, Indigenous, and people of colour (BIPOC) youth that are reintegrating into the community from youth correctional facilities. It will address various risk factors, enhance protective factors for BIPOC youth and include one-on-one case management, development of service plans, translations services, support through legal and disciplinary processes, and community and cultural events.

This project includes development and strengthening of the BC Network of Child and Youth Advocacy Centres.

The project consists of coordinating and supporting the implementation of training initiatives coming from the member organizations of the National Justice Training Network. The initiatives will contribute to increasing access to justice in both official languages through the provision of French legal language training for justice professionals and legal courses provided in French. The organization will also collect data to demonstrate the impact of the initiatives of the network.

The objective of the Indigenous Courtwork Program is to facilitate and enhance access to justice by assisting Indigenous Persons (adults and youth) charged with an offence under any federal or provincial statute, municipal by-law, or otherwise involved in the criminal justice system to obtain fair, just, equitable and culturally relevant treatment.

These services include information on charges, court procedures, rights and responsibilities, bail, diversion, restorative justice and Indigenous community justice alternatives; support in accessing legal resources as well as appropriate community programming including wellness, trauma, housing, family and employment services; and, facilitating communication among court officials, accused persons, family members and communities to ensure understanding and collaboration.

Over the next five years, Sophie’s Place will provide child-focused, multi-disciplinary services and support to children, youth, and their families in cases where abuse is suspected using trauma-informed best practices.

Over the next five years, the project will develop and pilot a Child and Youth Advocacy Centre in the Cowichan Valley (Duncan), BC.

The position will provide direct support to Indigenous child abuse victims and families as well as building connections with Indigenous communities.

The Government of New Brunswick’s Restorative Justice Practices in Conflict and Crime: Enhancing the Justice System Response for Our Youth project aims to enhance current efforts pertaining to ensuring a more effective youth justice system, as well as enabling greater citizen and community participation in New Brunswick. The project includes targeted engagement and awareness-building with specified audiences across NB, with a focus on providing trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and restorative options for youth in conflict with the law, with mindful consideration for the needs of Indigenous youth.

The funding will support the operation and expansion of existing Drug Treatment Courts (DTCs) as well as the establishment of new DTCs. This funding will contribute to reduce recidivism rates by supporting eligible offenders in addressing their cycle of problematic substance use and criminal behaviour through the availability of treatment as an alternative to incarceration.
