In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

The Lesperance Road & Little River Boulevard Multi-Use Pathway involves the installation of approximately 2.51 kilometers of multi-use pathway along Lesperance Road from Riverside Drive to First Street and on Little River Boulevard from Lesperance Road to Gauthier Street in the Town of Tecumseh. This project is aimed at strategically improving the active transportation network within the Town through the interconnection of approximately 30 kilometers of existing active transportation facilities both within the Town and neighbouring communities (Ganatchio Trail, Riverside Pathway (2022), Little River Pathway, McNorton Pathway). Installation of this pathway will increase active transportation access to the Town’s downtown commercial centre (Tecumseh Road) and recreation facilities such as the arena and recreation complex, and local parks (Arrowhead, Chippewa, Col. Cyclone Mocha – Emergency Response in Myanmar - WFP 2023

Description:

On May 14, Cyclone Mocha crossed the coast in Rakhine State in Myanmar, bringing flooding, landslides and strong winds to an area of high pre-existing vulnerability, with large numbers of displaced, returned, stateless and crisis affected people. Nearly 3.2 million are considered to be most vulnerable to the cyclone impact based on analysis of shelter quality, food insecurity and coping capacity. Houses, sanitation facilities, and public infrastructure were damaged or destroyed by the cyclone. The Cyclone has also impacted Bangladesh with nearly 430,000 affected people, over 2,000 destroyed houses and more than 10,600 damaged houses across the Chattogram Division.

With GAC’s support, the World Food Programme (WFP) is working to save lives and help reduce the suffering of people affected by Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar. Project activities include: (1) delivering in-kind food assistance to people in need; (2) making multi-purpose cash transfers to cover immediate food needs and support livelihoods; and (3) providing logistical support to the emergency response.
