Grants and Contributions

About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

TTR Developing an Active Transportation Strategy

Duration: from Jun 22, 2023 to Mar 31, 2026
Description:

The project will include completion of a feasibility study to determine the need for improvements to the on-reserve active transportation system. In addition to developing a Feasibility Study, this initiative intends to engage the entire community to gather information about members' challenges/needs/expectations, as well as to promote active transportation strategies to be considered in the TTR Active Transportation Strategy. At this time, a significant percentage of TTR members do not have motorized transportation and there is a desire/need for a delineated network separate from the roads for various active conveyance methods such as biking, walking, running, scootering, and alike. The feasibility study aims to determine the viability of such a system at TTR.

Duration: from Jun 22, 2023 to Mar 31, 2026
Description:

The Town of Port Hawkesbury has developed a two phase plan to provide a connection between existing AT facilities and destinations to incorporate multi-use modes of transportation in Port Hawkesbury, and to connect to destinations throughout the region and the Nova Scotia Blue Route

The plan includes resurfacing, widening, and signage / amenity enhancements to provide a consistent user experience with other areas of the AT network. This project will also provide the needed Blue Route link to the existing cycling network. An outline of the project areas is provided below:
- Sydney Road Connection, 490m
- Pinecrest Drive Connection, 150m
- Tamarac Drive Connection Detailed Design, 500m: A new multi-use pathway facility is proposed for this area which will help to promote accessibility and healthy living for residents and provide a safe off road facility for students walking and cycling to school

Our intention is to proceed with detailed engineering and design for the multi-use pathway and street cross section changes.
