Massive ImpAct: Collaboration and Capacity Building in Colleges and Institutes Coast-to-Coast-to Coast -Raising Awareness and Empowering Climate Action

The project aims to strengthen the respect and protection of human rights in Bolivia by supporting the mission of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in its monitoring, documentation, reports and technical and strategic advice on the human rights situation in the country, with particular attention to the rights of women, indigenous Peoples and LGBTQ2 populations, among others.
Project activities include: (1) documenting and mapping human rights violations; (2) the preparation and publication of clear reports on the human rights situation, including an analysis of the differentiated impact on women, indigenous Peoples, migrants, LGBTQ2 people and people deprived of their freedom; (3) provide technical assistance to civil society organizations, including women's and Indigenous organizations and LGBTQ2 groups, to enhance their capacity to monitor human rights, in accordance with relevant international human rights standards; and (4) conduct analysis of patterns of violence and political harassment of women, particularly Indigenous women in the electoral context.

This project contributes to the prevention of Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM) in Bangladesh’s districts of Bagerhat and Sathkira in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This project aims to empower adolescents and youth, particularly girls, to exert greater control over their sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) decision-making and address the factors that drive CEFM with the support of their families and communities, including faith leaders. This project also empowers girls and young women to protect themselves from COVID-19 and its social and economic impacts. Project activities include: (1) strengthening health systems’ capacity to provide gender-responsive, COVID-19 and adolescent-friendly SRHR and psychosocial support services, including for CEFM, for unmarried and married adolescents girls; (2) improving sexual education for adolescent girls in and out of school, focusing on building decision-making, communication and risk reduction related to SRHR, sexual and gender-based violence, and CEFM; (3) enhancing adolescent girls and young women’s leadership capacity to challenge harmful gender norms and practices that impact SRHR; (4) empowering women’s organizations, men’s groups, faith/traditional leaders, and child protection influencers to address gender roles, cultural barriers and negative CEFM consequences; and (5) supporting families and communities to be COVID-19 responsive, while building the community’s capacity and the health care system to provide gender-responsive and adolescent-friendly information and services on COVID-19 prevention.

The project expects to directly benefit over 200,000 adolescent boys and girls (of which 110,000 girls/women) and indirectly benefit more than 1,400,000 people.

This project aims to increase the number of women employed with decent work in a broader range of occupations Bangladesh . In collaboration with a range of donors and non-government partners, Bangladesh has established a more market-oriented, competency-based technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system coordinated through a collaborative peak body, the National Development Skills Authority (NSDA). This project establishes a link between the skills system and infrastructure and economic development strategies, including promoting green enterprises to ensure long-term benefits for human capital development, sustainable employment and improved livelihoods. This project uses gender equality and women’s empowerment as a central theme to drive improvements in policy, skills and business service provision to empower Bangladeshi women. It also seeks to harness women’s potential in promoting green skills and green enterprise development. This project supports the Bangladesh Government’s commitment to promote gender equality in TVET, significantly increase women’s graduation and labour market insertion, and create gender-responsive, violence-free training and working environments.

Designed to combine capacity building and policy support with a practical demonstration to achieve sustainable change, the project activities include: (1) providing technical assistance to the NSDA for developing and implementing an action plan on gender equality (GE) in TVET/Skills Training; (2) setting up a gender and skills taskforce to review the strategy for the promotion of GE and gender-based violence-free TVET system; (3) addressing the impacts of COVID-19 and providing more flexible training schedules, blended learning solutions, and provision of child care; (4) conducting gender-focused value chain analysis and research to identify opportunities for increasing women’s employment; (5) providing technical assistance to business development service providers in selected value chains; (6) establishing public-private partnerships to enhance women’s access to infrastructure projects; (7) increasing access to apprenticeship-based training for women; and (8) developing and promoting gender and environment-based curriculum and training materials.
