Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Wolastoqey Phase I Indigenous Justice Strategy Engagement
13830579
In Phase I of the Indigenous Justice Strategy, Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. will focus on engaging with the six Wolastoqey communities in New Brunswick (leadership, Elders, women, youth, Knowledge and Language Holders, 2SLGBTQQIA+) on the Indigenous Justice Strategy and determine priorities for the communities and Nation as a whole. Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. will then work with the All-Nations Common Table to develop a Plan for New Brunswick.

Pathways to Justice
13826842
This project will support the Nation’s participation in the initial implementation phase of the Indigenous Justice Strategy (IJS) by ensuring that they remain fully engaged in discussions, planning, and decision-making processes. It will also ensure that the Nation’s priorities, cultural teachings, and lived experiences inform the early development of justice initiatives, as well as strengthen collaboration with partner organizations, governments, and other Indigenous communities. The project will lead to proposed framework, that will guide future phases of IJS implementation.

Precision radio cosmology from the Canadian high Arctic with MIST and ALBATROS
25FAMCB28
This project aims to elucidate cosmic dawn and the dark ages through observations of the radio sky with two custom-built telescopes in the Canadian high Arctic: the Mapper of the Intergalactic medium Spin Temperature (MIST) and the Array of Long Baseline Antennas for Taking Radio Observations from the Seventy-ninth parallel (ALBATROS). These telescopes will advance scientific knowledge while simultaneously serving as platforms for prototyping instrumentation and measurement techniques for future space missions. The project objectives focus on in-depth calibration tests using MIST and ALBATROS.

Resolving Multi-phase Outflow/Inflow via Gas Dynamics and Chemical Abundance Distribution in a Sub-L* Dwarf Galaxy at z=6.1
25JWGO4A11
This project will use JWST/NIRSpec to reveal how gas flows in and out of an early low-mass galaxy as well as mapping its chemical abundances to search for signs of proto-globular clusters or metal-free gas. By combining JWST’s unparalleled sensitivity with gravitational lensing and an advanced “MSA stepping” technique, this project will achieve ultra-efficient, spatially resolved spectroscopy down to star-cluster scales, at a depth that would otherwise be unfeasible.

Vast Exploration for Nascent, Unexplored Sources (VENUS)
25JWGO4A18
This project will use JWST/NIRCam and NIRSpec to discover and study the faintest and most distant galaxies, black holes, stars, and stellar explosions in the early universe. By using the powerful effect of gravitational lensing, this project will reveal over 10-100 times more strongly magnified, early-universe objects than previous surveys.

The Formation of Crystalline Silicate Dust -- Testbed Observations of post-AGB Stars with JWST
25JWGO4B11
This project will use JWST/MIRI to study six nebulae that are transiforming into perfect crystals and analyze organic molecules called PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) that reveal the environmental conditions in these stellar nebulae.
