The organization will provide a trauma-informed, holistic care and support program for victims and survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the sex trade. Services will include one-on-one and group supports such as counselling, community navigation, safety planning, group programs that focus on employment readiness, healthy relationships, personal development, mental health supports and financial literacy.

The organization will offer a mental health and addictions program for victims and survivors of human trafficking in two specialized tracks of support. Full-time programming (in person), will be provided for residents of their live-in program with the goal of eventual transition to appropriate long-term community supports once stable and available. Part-time programming (in-person or digitally), will be provided in the community for members of their outreach program, allowing for those who do not meet the mandate of the intensive program (i.e. male, have children, or cannot relocated to BC) to participate anywhere in Canada. The program seeks to remove the barriers to supports and services to allow for immediate access to programming and rehabilitation specialized to the needs of survivors.

The funding will support the operation and expansion of existing Drug Treatment Courts (DTCs) as well as the establishment of new DTCs. This funding will contribute to reduce recidivism rates by supporting eligible offenders in addressing their cycle of problematic substance use and criminal behaviour through the availability of treatment as an alternative to incarceration.

The organization will provide a safe place where individuals will receive trauma informed, person centred, strength based support as individuals who have exited sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, prostitution and chemical/substance dependency. Services and supports will include individual case management, access to trauma informed therapy, life and housing skills support, finding income support and job training and placement.

The project consists of coordinating and supporting the implementation of training initiatives coming from the member organizations of the National Justice Training Network. The initiatives will contribute to increasing access to justice in both official languages through the provision of French legal language training for justice professionals and legal courses provided in French. The organization will also collect data to demonstrate the impact of the initiatives of the network.

The project supports the coordination of a French language common law certificate programme that will be offered at English-speaking host institutions. In addition to offering law courses in French, the certificate programme will also include a semester at the University of Ottawa - Common Law Program in French, a mock court exercise, mentoring activities and internships in organizations that offer legal services in French.

The organization will develop and deliver a complete French and English legal terminology language training program for provincial and territorial judges to help them to increase their capacity to offer justice services in both official languages. The program will consist of two, one-week intensive training sessions supplemented by online activities between the sessions.

This project entails evaluating the language proficiency of justice stakeholders. These evaluations are conducted through an online plate-form. They focus on four aspects of language proficiency: reading, writing, comprehension and expression. All evaluations result in a certification that confirms language proficiency. This project also entails developing new markets for this assessment service. Potential clients will be justice system stakeholders working for provincial and territorial governments.

The Recipient agrees to: contribute to addressing the overrepresentation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system through activities such as Gladue aftercare, civil/family mediation, prevention, diversion and/or reintegration.

This project will expand the province's existing model of Family Guide Domestic Violence Specialists to a regional level. The project will conduct a review and analysis of existing resources in regional, remote, and northern Manitoba, while exploring opportunities to integrate Protection Order Designates programming and training. In the final two years, the project will implement pilot projects to test models to provide services at a regional level.
