The ALIZE project implemented under a “pay-for-results” model aims to improve climate and economic resilience by implementing climate smart agriculture to protect biodiversity, farmers and their associations, enhancing the equitable adaptation to climate change for vulnerable rural women, particularly Indigenous women, and their cacao-growing communities. Project activities include: 1) developing and diversifying agroforestry systems based on gender-responsive climate smart agriculture, including for agricultural and domestic water access and management, reducing the vulnerabilities of women and their communities to climate change; 2) providing women-led technical assistance services on climate change adaptation in cacao-growing communities, including training on consolidating commercialization services for enhanced quality and certified cacao and gender-responsive financial products and services, such as financial literacy training; 3) delivering sessions on positive masculinities, recognizing women’s unpaid care work and promoting their leadership and decision-making related to natural resources governance.

This project aims to strengthen water security and climate resilience in municipalities and local communities located in Peru’s mining regions, especially for vulnerable women and men. This includes mobilizing close to $40 million USD in additional public and private investments, to ensure water availability for thousands of Peruvians and the private sector. Project activities include: (1) restoring and sustainably managing 20,000 hectares of critical water ecosystems; (2) strengthening the capacity of Peruvian authorities to more effectively manage natural water infrastructure; (3) expanding community access to nature based water management solutions and technologies; (4) improving policy frameworks that promote long term investment in water resources; and (5) integrating nature based tools and policies into national institutions and water utilities to benefit close to 60,000 people and help secure the long term sustainability of Peru’s natural water infrastructure systems.

To encourage scientific research and related scientific activities (e.g. data collection, integration, monitoring, and communication, including communication via conferences and symposia) and dissemination of scientific knowledge in the areas of: (a) Fisheries and Aquaculture Science; (b) Ecosystem Science; (c) Oceanography and Modelling; and (d) Freshwater Science.

This project will use JWST/MIRI and NIRSpec to capture the first-ever spectrum of purely neutral PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) in space by observing nebulae surrounding cool stars that produce no ionizing radiation.

This project will use JWST/MIRI and NIRSpec to investigate mysterious infrared signals called Aromatic Infrared Bands by observing a dying star (NGC6644) and studying how their molecular structure evolves when exposed to ultraviolet light.

This project is mostly related to increased knowledge and collaboration with stakeholders and/or international organizations.
