Grants and Contributions

About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

International Aid for Chile

Agreement Number:

FIRENFC-29

Duration: from Feb 21, 2023 to Mar 31, 2023
Description:

The objective of this Project is to enhance disaster response capacity and coordination, foster the development of new capabilities, and to increase capacity to prepare for and respond to wildfires in Chile. The Government of Chile declared a state of emergency in the regions of Araucanía, Ñuble and Biobio due to wildfires and has requested international assistance. Countries are increasingly dependent on each other to provide mutual aid during wildfire emergencies, with Canada requiring support from international partners in most years. It is important that Canada assist other countries in their times of need also, to sustain this system of reciprocal assistance. In assisting Chile, Canada contributes to increasing its own resilience to natural disasters such as wildfires by ensuring the global community is equipped and ready to assist us.

Athlete Tech Group strives to help 10M athletes successfully transition to life after sport, and we are now able to do this at scale with our mobile app, Training Ground. Building a product for an eco-system such as sports, requires a lot of product marketing and opportunities for engagement, hence why we hired Veronica Podluzski to be our product marketing manager. It is quite hard to sell something that does not exist, and with Veronica's limited experience working as a coordinator and intern in marketing departments over the years gives her unique insight to help increase product engagement with our target community. We expect this hire to increase revenue and cross-selling opportunities by continuously providing value for our customers.

Active Transportation Network Assessment for the Transportation & Active Mobility Plan

Duration: from Feb 21, 2023 to Mar 31, 2024
Description:

In 2021, Township of Langley (Township) council unanimously adopted an ambitious Climate Action Strategy (CAS), which aims to reduce community emissions by 45% by 2030 and 100% by 2050. This plan is anchored by five ‘big moves’ and over 140 specific actions. One of the ‘big moves’ is for ‘more than half of current passenger vehicle trips be made by more sustainable means by 2030’. The Project will collect information and data from the Township and regional sources to establish safety classifications and design standards of the current network. The Township’s network will then be compared against modern Provincial and regional safety and design standards and targets, such as those established in the ‘British Columbia Active Transportation (BCAT) Design Guide 2019’, and in TransLink’s ‘State of Cycling in Metro Vancouver 2019’ document. The results will identify gaps in the system, challenges that may be preventing use, and prioritize locations for improvements that would increase active transportation use.
