About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Space Place: Exhibits to Engage Canadian Youth in Space Science through Hands-on Experiential Learning

Science North will reimagine the visitor experience in Space Place to engage audiences in a series of exhibits related to Canada and the Moon, increasing young Canadians’ awareness of Canadian Space projects and interest in pursuing STEM education and careers. Exhibits will explore the Canada’s participation in the Artemis Program, as well as the work that Canadian space scientists are doing to drive next-generation technologies for space exploration, including a range of opportunities for lunar science, robotics, AI and lunar rover technology.

London Regional Children's Museum Space Exhibit Update

This project objective is to update the permanent Space exhibit to feature more current information related to Canada’s participation in present and future endeavours related to Moon exploration, such as Artemis Missions and the Lunar Gateway. In this exhibit, children will have the opportunity to learn about the process of designing and building technology such as the Canadarm3, other Gateway modules, and lunar rover components; transporting people into space and to the Moon via the Artemis Missions; and how ongoing research can be applied to the wider exploration of the galaxy. The exhibit refresh will also expand children’s interest in moon-related topics through hands-on exploration of engaging materials.

Project Luna: Youth Space Program

This project aims to broaden the reach and impact of astronomy and space science educational programming for Black, Indigenous and Youth of Colour in Nova Scotia. Recognizing the importance of inclusive and equitable access to astronomy and space science education, "Project Luna" will incorporate culturally responsive programming and look to fostering spaces of belonging with all participants. This program will empower and foster youth leadership skills while promoting interest in and awareness of astronomy and space science.
