The satellite market is currently shifting toward LEO constellations. Those new missions calls for phased array antennas which up to now are typically operating in single polarization. Combining two phased array antennas in a dual polarization operation represents a great advantage in terms of real estate and cost effectiveness, both aspects being crucial for satellite operators.

The project purpose is to develop the necessary technologies to enable the combination of two polarization in one phased array antenna. This requires developing antenna architecture but also advanced Radio frequency (RF) components in order to maximize efficiency and reduce the electronic front end foot print.

The expected outcome will be a reference architecture and electronics to support MDA’s new product line of dual polarization phased array antennas.

Those LEO constellations will ultimately provide broadband access to remote parts where it is not economically viable to develop traditional broadband services and help closing the digital divide.

Satellites are critical infrastructure in our technologically advancing world. Daily, we use satellites to navigate, predict weather, and communicate. A successful cyberattack against space infrastructure could be devastating. To prevent such attack, satellites encrypt their communications using keys loaded before launch. If those keys are ever compromised after launch to space, there is no way to load new keys.

QEYnet is developing a solution to this problem using a technology called quantum key distribution (QKD). In QKD, keys are sent to the satellite using photons. Due to the laws of quantum mechanics, any attempt at eavesdropping on a QKD system can be detected, making the keys highly secure.

Though QKD does hold incredible promise, imperfections in the QKD hardware can result in unintended security vulnerabilities. This project will further advance QEYnet’s testing of novel countermeasures to these vulnerabilities, and advance QEYnet’s QKD technology toward commercial readiness.

This project will enable CoSA Canada to build on their commitment to understand the experiences and needs of victims of sexual harm.

This project will provide a new server for the recipient's agency.

The recipient will host a virtual Regional Gathering for Newfoundland & Labrador to create collaboration between Indigenous community-based justice programs and justice system stakeholders. The goal is to encourage networking and improve relationships for Indigenous community justice workers across the Province.

The purpose of the Indigenous Habitat Participation Program- Grant Funding is to meet the legal obligations to support the participation of Indigenous communities in consultations on Departmental Crown conduct (i.e., decisions, such as arrangements, approvals, authorizations and permits) under the Fisheries Act and/or Species at Risk Act.
