This project will establish an in-house, automated Drosophila embryo microinjection platform to generate transgenic fly lines for R&D and commercial use. This will reduce costs and shorten timelines from plasmid to transgenic fly lines, and enable earlier testing of more construct variants, strengthening Alberta’s bio-based manufacturing capacity.

Medda is building a zero-integration clinical copilot and health data infrastructure that retrieves and unifies fragmented medical records into a single, AI-powered longitudinal health story for clinicians and patients. As part of this IRAP project, Medda will develop a Patient Isolation and AI Grounding Layer that ensures models access only properly authorized patient data and that every AI output remains transparently tied to validated medical sources. This will allow Medda to develop a privacy-first, clinically reliable standard for health-safe AI in Canada.

It will be instrumental in helping to create over 145 skilled Canadian jobs, with 40 FTEs by 2029 from this project. These will directly support EV and clean energy growth, and significantly reduce Canada’s carbon footprint through efficient, high-performance transformer production.

This project aims to expand the application of flow monitoring system to orifice-based flow metering system, which is a widely utilized technology in fluid transportation sector. The complexity of flow dynamics associated with the orifice, from both technical and practical aspects, represents a major challenge for all existing flow monitoring technology. Thus, the resulting data and demonstrated performance will be instrumental in training and validating the non-intrusive monitoring technology, while also highlighting its broader technological benefits for the water and energy transport industries.

The project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the firm.
