The project will provide free, age-appropriate legal rights education to children and youth throughout British Columbia through interactive workshops. With a lawyer present, workshops will address legal questions and foster meaningful conversations about rights and responsibilities. The project will help bridge access to legal and other support services, with a particular focus on reaching marginalized youth, including those in rural, northern, and Indigenous communities.

Provide financial assistance to an individual Canadian victim of a specified serious violent crime in a foreign jurisdiction for emergency situations of undue hardship where no other source of financial assistance is available (specified categories of crimes are homicide, sexual assault, aggravated assault or assault with serious personal violence, or threat of serious violence, including against a child) or to an individual support person to accompany, attend with or support a Canadian victimized in a foreign jurisdiction. A total of 42 individuals were approved to receive financial assistance in this regard.

Provide financial assistance to an individual victim or support person (as defined in the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and who are registered with Correctional Service Canada or the Parole Board of Canada), to attend Parole Board of Canada hearings in respect of the offender who harmed them. A total of 34 individuals were approved to receive financial assistance in this regard.

The Firm is advancing next-generation holographic displays by transitioning from its proven NOVAC™ system to a flat-panel architecture to reduce costs, improve manufacturability, and enable scalable production for defence and future commercial markets. A critical step is developing a flat-panel prototype through a specialized fabrication partnership with a leading research institute in Germany. With NRC IRAP support, the Firm will generate the technical data and process knowledge needed to refine its flat-panel design and lay the groundwork for a secure, globally competitive holographic display manufacturing capability in Canada.

This project addresses this gap through the design of a patent-pending Hybrid Intelligent Piston Engine (HIPE) operating on lead-free automotive fuel as a direct retrofit for legacy aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). HIPE integrates an electric motor into a liquid cooled engine crankshaft and uses a real-time AI controller to reduce fuel costs by 70% and increase time between overhauls by 50%. A scaled proof-of-concept prototype will be built to demonstrate hybrid operation and validate efficiency gains.

This project will advance PolySense’s wireless monitoring technology for laboratory environments. The work will help prepare the platform for broader commercial and regulated applications.

Conversion of 2D dimensional drawings of parts and assemblies to 3D models to bring the engineering documentation to current standards and practices

This project aims to develop and experimentally validate an AI-powered fleet readiness and maintenance prioritization platform for small, high-speed manned and unmanned boats.

The project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the firm.

Barreleye Ltd. develops software that optimizes water use in oil and gas operations. The proposed Scenario Analysis and System Hydraulics project expands Barreleye’s platform with economic scenario analysis and engineering-grade fluid dynamics modeling. These tools allow producers to evaluate alternatives to freshwater while validating the economic feasibility of using recycled produced water, brackish water, or blended solutions instead. Scenario planning informs short and long term investment decisions that accelerate the transition away from the requirement of, or reliance on, freshwater. System hydraulics ensures accurate water flow forecasting in complex geographies maximizing recycled produced water use over freshwater.
