The Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) plans to develop a comprehensive language audit in the CCA’s existing finding aids. It is the first stage towards adopting equitable and inclusive descriptive practices throughout all stages of archival management at the CCA. The CCA will first examine and critique its past methods to develop strategies and workflows for future description work. Using automated tools and manual verification, the CCA will search for outdated and harmful language that appear in the archival descriptions of 215 fonds.

The project has four main objectives: (1) to digitize the collection of approximately 5.0 linear meters of textual records and more than 2700 portraits, in relation with the pioneers and developers that came to live in Brome County and surrounding areas, beginning in 1783; (2) to preserve these documents according to accepted Canadian standards; (3) to describe and upload a visual copy of each document onto the Eastern Townships Archives Portal, accessible to the public; (4) to help renew our museum's permanent exhibits with new visual and descriptive material.

This project will ensure the preservation and accessibility of records added to the Stó:lo Library and Archives - thereby increasing access to, and awareness of, the history of the Stó:lo Nation, an organization of Stó:lo communities which has its roots in several forerunner organizations focused on Stó:lo governance and rights and title, including participation in the modern treaty process, dating back to the 1970s. These records were slated for shredding in 2021, as their previous repository was being demolished. Basic item lists were used to identify and "rescue" records of enduring value, but require further descriptions and cataloguing to ensure they are accessible.

The training will cover preservation, arrangement, description, digitization, digital preservation, and outreach using records of healthcare institutions founded by the congregation. The extent of these records is 31 feet, including textual material, 1418 photographs, and one audiocassette. This project will enable the public to access these records. Throughout the internship, there will be time for reflection on what practices in archival administration could be modified when put into practice within a traditional cultural setting.

This project (1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024) will enable access to a part of Inuit and Canadian documentary heritage and increase ICC Canada’s capacity for collection management and information sharing. The key activities of ‘Describing and Discovery’ are: arrangement and description of all archival records, with multi-level, Rules for Archival Description (RAD)-compliant descriptions to the fonds/series/sub-series level (file- and item-level for some); and the installation and customization of software to manage and search archival descriptions and digital objects in English and Inuktitut (syllabics and Roman orthography).

With its project “Sharing 10,000 years of history, the Atanukana by Charles-Api Bellefleur,” the organization wishes to capture, disseminate and preserve a complete repertoire of traditional Innu tales (the Atanukana), as told by the traditional storyteller Charles-Api Bellefleur, but also by his father and grandfather before him. There is no denying that the Atanukana have a pivotal heritage value for the Innu and that they carry a thousand years of priceless knowledge.

The Winnipeg Architecture Foundation Archives Phase 3 project relates to four fonds in the Winnipeg Architecture Foundation (WAF) collection. The main objectives of the project are to increase access, better preserve originals, and inform WAF’s research and public programmes. The fonds all contain materials that document Manitoba’s built heritage. The project closely aligns with the Foundation’s mandate to advance awareness and appreciation of Winnipeg’s built environment.

The organization houses a collection of materials related to the Mohawk Institute, known as the “Mush Hole” to its students. This collection comprises approximately 31 boxes of records, ledger books, maps, and scrapbooks. The proposed project objective is to review all materials in the 31 boxes to evaluate them for inclusion in the newly created Mush Hole fonds, physically rearrange the records, and write RAD-compliant archival descriptions and finding aids in order to make the fonds accessible and easily usable by researchers.

This project will launch Cold Lake First Nations' (CLFN) Lue Chok Tue Archives Program ("the Program") which centralizes, preserves, and provides access to records and cultural properties, regardless of media or format, that are of enduring value to understanding the history, culture and community of the Denesuline people of Lue Chok Tue. As a result of 2022/23 work, CLFN centralized and inventoried 369 document boxes of records generated through governance and administration of CLFN Indian Band No. 464, developed an Acquisitions Policy, and prepared a Facilities Plan.

The Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) Archives Access Project application for 2023-24 DHCP focuses on completion of finding aids for records created by departments of CYFN and its predecessor organizations (Yukon Native Brotherhood, Yukon Association of Non-Status Indians, Council for Yukon Indians) from circa 1970 to 2010 including: Finance (170 boxes), Communications (18 boxes), Housing (58 boxes), Self Government Secretariat (85 boxes),; and for CYFN-Yukon Native Language Centre: Linguistic Research records (14 boxes) and @500 maps.
