The hiring of a dedicated business development resource to sell our digital concussion management platform CAPT, www.captcares.com into sports in Canada. The role involves the direct selling of CAPT to sports clubs and associations, and working with the CEO of the company and the Coaching Association of Canada.

In a collaboration led by Kugluktuk Hunters and Trappers Organization (HTO) and involving researchers from University of Waterloo, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and NRC, we will capitalize on existing acoustic telemetry infrastructure to answer questions about fish migrations and habitat use.

Groundwater is the principal drinking water source for Greater Whitehorse Area (GWA) residents. However, preliminary data show a high proportion of local untreated groundwater samples that have metal(oid) concentrations exceeding safe drinking-water limits. There is significant local need to identify sources and drivers of groundwater metal(loid) contamination in the GWA. The GWA is experiencing rapid population growth, growing groundwater demand, and has thousands of unregulated private water wells. This project combines sampling, analysis, modelling, and traditional knowledge to improve understanding of the spatial distribution of dissolved metal(oid)s and the underlying processes driving this groundwater contamination. These activities benefit from existing relationships and ongoing engagement among local partner organizations that include municipal, territorial, and First Nations governments and local academics. Overall, this project will support training, generate information, translate knowledge, and build capacity to improve water security for GWA residents and, potentially, other subarctic regions susceptible to geogenic metal(loid) contamination.

The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) and the National Research Council (NRC) will collaborate to provide immersive virtual reality (VR) technology to Inuvialuit for wellness and cultural benefits for clients with limited access to the land for healing. This study aims to provide VR immersion to 1) determine possible mental health benefits for Inuvialuit through connection to the land and 2) test the effectiveness of the VR technology as a tool in the North. We will form a steering committee that will include members from the IRC’s Inuvialuit Cultural Resource Center, Innovation and Research, IT, and Health and Wellness divisions; members of the Research Department at NRC; and community members. We will identify critical cultural sites to be included in the study, select test parameters and survey questions, and pilot the VR immersion on Inuvialuit clients with limited access to the land who need cultural connection and grounding.

This project will develop new radio-frequency (RF) instrumentation for, and in partnership with, Indigenous communities to monitor those components of their traditional trails that pass over frozen lakes and rivers (hereafter called Winter Trails). In doing so, it will integrate Indigenous knowledge of ice dynamics and travel safety into the design and testing processes. The project will also co-create a training curriculum for community members to operate and deploy the instrumentation, create ice-condition travel maps and share the ice information products within and between communities.

Requirments for formulation development for a later stage clinical program include certain stability and other characteristics necessary for a regulatory approval and ultimately a commercial product.
