• To provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:
• Produce results that are applicable, adaptable and ready for equitable spread and/or scale (sharing) by a healthcare or community care provider through implementation research that is relevant to clients/patients/families, communities, and decision-makers;
• Improve health outcomes, client/patient/families experiences, effectiveness, and lower the cost of care within two or more of the Transitions in Care (TiC) focus areas through identifying, evaluating and implementing evidence-based and/or effective interventions;
• Build novel multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary collaborations and partnerships with individuals, communities and organizations in Canada that have interest in transformative research in care transitions by promoting engagement, recognition and respect for health research expertise across an array of health disciplines, research pillars, and industry; and
• Build and promote relevant capacity to conduct research in transitions in care, including training and early career development by supporting teams that actively engage established researchers, early career investigators, trainees, and knowledge users.

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program aims to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent, both nationally and internationally, to develop their leadership potential and to position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow, positively contributing to Canada’s economic, social and research-based growth through a research-intensive career.

The TiC team grants are expected to:
• Produce results that are applicable, adaptable and ready for equitable spread and/or scale (sharing) by a healthcare or community care provider through implementation research that is relevant to clients/patients/families, communities, and decision-makers;
• Improve health outcomes, client/patient experiences, effectiveness, and lower the cost of care within two or more of the TiC focus areas through identifying, evaluating and implementing evidence-based and/or effective interventions;
• Build novel multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary collaborations and partnerships with individuals, communities and organizations in Canada that have interest in transformative research in care transitions by promoting engagement, recognition and respect for health research expertise across an array of health disciplines, research pillars, and industry; and,
• Build and promote relevant transitions in care research capacity, including training and early career development by supporting teams that actively engage established researchers, new investigators, trainees, and knowledge users.

The goal of the Data Analysis Grants is to use existing cohorts, data platforms and/or administrative datasets to advance healthy cities intervention research and implementation science specifically by addressing one or more of the following objectives:
• Evaluating the impact on health and health equity of interventions to the physical, social or policy environment (including health system–mediated interventions);
• Contributing analyses to inform the planning of physical, social or policy interventions with the purpose of improving urban population health or health equity;
• Addressing critical contextual questions related to the implementation of one or more interventions and scaling up of evidence-based interventions (including health system-mediated interventions);
• Filling knowledge gaps that are critical for laying the foundation for future population health intervention research in urban areas. For example, increasing our understanding around how interventions may impact populations differentially according to gender, age, race, culture, ethnicity, income, or dis/ability;
• Developing and/or validating indicators and other data or evaluation tools that enable robust, comparable, replicable and equitable healthy cities intervention research and implementation science (including health system-mediated interventions).
