Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

ARP – Automation of the detection of events and movement cycles
993458
Quantified gait analysis (QGA) is a functional analysis that can be used to guide the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. It allows for savings in treatment costs, but also an improvement in the quality of care by personalizing treatments. A critical step is event detection and cycle selection. However, it remains one of the only manual steps. The lack of automation of this step has several impacts on the risks of error, its time-consuming aspect and its cost. The company proposes to develop an application to automate this step. This application will facilitate the analysis and will promote the appearance of disruptive technologies on the market.

The Canadian Battery Metals Mining Industry Showcases and Eco-system Map development
993525
Technology Showcases: This project is poised to deliver a series of technology showcases (4 total); the showcases will provide a platform for SMEs developing mining technologies for batteries to showcase their technologies and business plans to end-users, channel partners, investors, collaborators, and technical & research organizations for potential partnerships leading to commercialization. Each showcase will target interested IRAP client SMEs: in this way, the project offers an intimate relationship-building opportunity for all. The overall showcase project will identify industry trends, opportunities to collaborate, current research and development initiatives, and will facilitate potential business development opportunities.
Ecosystem Map: Through information gathered in during working sessions and showcases, research and targeted interviews with companies across the industry value chain, BMAC developed and delivered a web-hosted Industry Ecosystem Map (available on BMAC’s website). As the industry evolves, this will be an invaluable resource for current and future members of the battery supply chain to identify opportunities to expand their products or services. The map is not static and is updated on a continual basis. The Project will enable BMAC to further develop the Eco-system map.
