Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Analogue Field Testing, Training and Operational readiness for the 2028 ExoMars Rover Mission: Co-analysis of PanCam and Enfys data to determine the origin of clays on Mars
23FAWESB78
The goal of this project is to better constrain the formation of clay minerals on Mars through Mars analogue missions deployed at three clay-bearing terrestrial field sites with two comparable EMRF (ExoMars Rosalind Franklin rover mission) instruments. This project aims to provide insights into further development and validation of these instruments and train the next generation of planetary explorers. The objectives of this work are to provide additional inputs into the design and validation of the instrument “Enfys” – the newly funded spectrometer replacing the former Russian ISEM instrument, to develop mission procedures and protocols tailored for identifying and characterizing clays with Enfys with PanCam (Panoramic Camera), and to determine if the mineral/spectral characteristics of clays collected from different geologic settings are sufficiently distinct to differentiate between different clay-formation scenarios. The analogue missions will be executed at three field sites: one meteorite impact, a volcanic site and one surface weathering site.

Enabling Technologies for High-performance Printed Conformal Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) and Antennas for Emerging mmwave Wireless Communication
1014386
This project focuses on the investigation, development, and advancement of enabling technologies related to conformal reconfigurable intelligent surfaces and beamforming antenna technologies to enhance the performance of millimeter-wave wireless links, particularly in non-line-of?sight scenarios. These advancements encompass improvements in radiating surfaces, phase and high efficiency amplitude control for millimeter-wave integrated circuits, flexible substrates, materials, and conductive ink for printable surfaces. These efforts aim to address one of the most crucial and promising emerging wireless technologies. Additionally, the project aims to create technologies and solutions that enable broadband access, particularly in remote and rural areas.

Deep Generative AI for the Design and Synthesis of Perovskite with Targeted Properties
1014941
Synthetic chemistry methods are normally Edisonian-based (i.e., trial-and-error) and often will rely on experiential knowledge to synthesize chemically stable materials. Machine Learning (ML) approaches, that are based on Deep Generative Modeling (DGM), are commendable alternatives for novel materials discovery due to their impressive ability in analyzing robust chemical design space.
