Existing methods to detect granulomatous lesions in mature cattle in high-speed slaughter lines are manual. This project aims to develop an artificial intelligence-based bioimaging system to detect these lesions to improve CFIA’s TB surveillance program, and maintain Canada’s tuberculosis-free status.

The project aims to reduce coastal communities’ physical and socioeconomic vulnerability to adverse impacts of climate change in the Western Indian Ocean. The project aims to contribute to the African-led Great Blue Wall Initiative by supporting the establishment of a network of sustainable, resilient and inclusive seascapes in Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique and Tanzania. Three pillars of the project (Blue Planet, Blue Partners and Blue People) aim to operationalize equitable nature-based solutions with biodiversity co-benefits for climate adaptation.

The project activities include: (1) creating a red list of ecosystems for the Western Indian Ocean region; (2) identifying and setting up demonstration sites on nature-based solutions for adaptation, focusing on inclusive ecosystem restoration solutions; and (3) coaching and coordination via a blue business incubator.

The project partners, C-for-C (Madagascar), Mission inclusion (Canada), Muleide (Mozambique), International Union for the Conservation of Nature, Groots (Kenya), WFT (Tanzania) and PFFDSA (Comoros) jointly planned and envisioned this project.

The objective of the project is to support directly 160,000 (47 %) women and 65,000 (19 %) young women, in all their diversity, 70,000 (21 %) men and 42,500 (13 %) young men who are dependent on coastal and marine resources, as well as decision-makers, such as local, regional and national authorities, for their power to influence decisions about conservation. The project also targets 2,000,000 indirect beneficiaries. The project concentrates its efforts on the Lamu Seascape (Kenya), the Tanga-Pemba Seascape (Tanzania), the Inhambane Seascape (Mozambique), the Antsiranana Seascape (Madagascar) and the Moheli Seascape (Comoros).

This project seeks to develop the awareness and capacity of local women’s groups in Morocco to improve their approach to the prevention, rehabilitation, and reintegration of women involved in or impacted by violent extremism, terrorism, and other forms of conflict and political violence. Project activities will include the training of up to 100 frontline staff working across 30 grassroots civil society groups that are members of the Iscar Coalition for Equality and Empowerment, an umbrella organization of over 30 women’s civil society organizations in Morocco.

Contributes to the recovery of endangered, threatened, and other species of concern, by engaging Canadians in conservation actions to benefit wildlife and to protect aquatic species at risk.

The purpose of the Indigenous Habitat Participation Program- Grant Funding is to meet the legal obligations to support the participation of Indigenous communities in consultations on Departmental Crown conduct (i.e., decisions, such as arrangements, approvals, authorizations and permits) under the Fisheries Act and/or Species at Risk Act.

The Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement provides a one-time grant in year one of the ten-year Agreement to the Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) for the establishment of the following three KIA programs: Inuit Scholarship Fund; Inuit Business Opportunities Fund; and Inuit Culture and Heritage Fund. These three funding programs are direct benefits to Inuit as laid out in Nunavut Agreement Schedule 8-3 Matters Appropriate for Inuit Impact and Benefits Agreements in Relations to Parks, specifically: 1) Inuit Training at all levels; 4) Scholarships; and 6)(a) Business opportunities including provision of seed capital.

The Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement (IIBA) provides contribution funding over ten years under a flexible contribution model to support the KIA for the establishment and operation of the Inuit Implementation Committee for the Wrecks of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror National Historic Site, which is a joint KIA Parks Canada committee to oversee the implementation of the IIBA including reporting on results achieved, hiring of a liaison person for the Kitikmeot Inuit Association, and the review of the Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement in Year 7.

This grant supports the Manitoba Métis Federation in preparing the historic garden at Riel House National Historic Site. This project will foster education and engagement for visitors with historic Métis gardening practices, period appropriate plants and the distribution of the harvest to the Métis Nation.
