The Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement (IIBA) provides contribution funding over ten years under a flexible contribution model to support the KIA for the establishment and operation of the Inuit Implementation Committee for the Wrecks of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror National Historic Site, which is a joint KIA Parks Canada committee to oversee the implementation of the IIBA including reporting on results achieved, hiring of a liaison person for the Kitikmeot Inuit Association, and the review of the Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement in Year 7.

The purpose of this contribution is to provide funding to develop a comprehensive gun and gang strategy, by engaging community partners, stakeholders and service providers.

The purpose of this contribution is to develop a comprehensive gun and gang strategy with plans for community engagement and the creation of an Indigenous Advisory Council to determine needs, gaps and establish outcomes needed to develop a prevention/intervention plan.

Through this 55-month project, Indigenous Women’s Association of Maliseet and Mi’Kmaq Territories Inc. (IWAMMT) will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls or 2SLGBTQIA+ people, with a focus on strengthening the organization’s capacity to deliver programming. This will be achieved by reinforcing IWAMMT’s capacity regarding human resource management, financial management, information sharing and membership engagement and communications.

By the end of the project, IWAMMT will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ living in the Wabanaki Territories across New Brunswick with an emphasis on building the organization’s ability to deliver GBV programming.

With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, the Indigenous Women’s Association of the Maliseet and Mi’kmaq Territories Inc. will implement project management approaches and Indigenous Theory of Change models by training and coaching staff, updating policies, and planning for long term sustainability. They will also train all staff in GBA Plus, collective impact, and community engagement; establish ongoing membership input into programs and services; build a partnership network; and develop templates for data collection and monitoring.

This project offers a 5-day Transition Skills Course to 10 women (both active and retired military personnel) who have been affected by sexual misconduct across Canada, per year.

The evaluation results from Phase 1 of the project will be incorporated into Phase 2. The anonymous helpline will expand to offer services to bystanders and professionals in order to prevent child sexual abuse. The non-anonymous services will be expanded to additional provinces such as (Quebec, Nunavut and Yukon), will see the development and/or revision of an assessment and treatment manual, a refinement of the weekly self-report questionnaires and tools for pre and post-treatment change as well as the development of services for neurodiverse adults and family/friend support for individuals involved in the treatment program. A public awareness and public relations campaign will be enhanced throughout the contribution agreement period. Evaluation of all aspects of service delivery will continue to ensure the project is impacting risk-related factors for sexual offending.

This project will increase the capacity of Indigenous communities to engage in and benefit from economic development arising from opportunities in the forest sector, and increase Indigenous participation in forestry related opportunities, businesses, careers and governance.
