Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

P011285001: The BlueOrchard Latin America and Caribbean Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion Fund aims to increase the financial resilience of women, indigenous populations and people of African descent, as well as to support their material well-being and the growth of their businesses.
To accomplish this, the Fund provides commercial loans to between 25 and 30 financial or microfinance institutions throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
P011285002: The BlueOrchard Latin America and Caribbean Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion Fund aims to increase the financial resilience of women, indigenous populations and people of African descent, as well as to support their material well-being and the growth of their businesses.
The technical support mechanism supports client financial institutions of the fund in developing new financial inclusion solutions for women and in developing strategies to communicate with and effectively promote women clients. It also supports the development of diversity and inclusion policies within the human resources of the fund’s financial institution clients. Technical assistance supports the development or improvement of monitoring and reporting tools on gender, diversity, and inclusion; and helps financial institutions develop training on gender and inclusion for their employees.

The primary goal of the CubeSats Initiative in Canada for STEM (CUBICS) project will be to develop high-level skills in aspiring professionals in the space sector. It will concentrate on improving their individual competence as well as their ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary projects. Concurrently, the project will have objectives in science and technology, collaborative work and STEM promotion, such as: •Continue to provide space oriented high-level skills trainings and form future space industry professionals •Continue to contribute to space-related sciences and technological developments. •Continue to contribute into climate change studies.
Space Concordia aims to have an impact on the development of space technologies by improving the overall performance and robustness of space integrated artificial intelligence models on CubeSats, which would create a space perturbation model to help test and validate the robustness in questions.

System implementation of the silicon optical phased arrays
1000735
The aim of the Project is to investigate on the array designs of dense 2-dimensional nano-antennas and to provide an optimized system implementation of the integrated optical phased arrays (OPA). The far-field radiation pattern of the OPA array is formed by the coherent superposition of the radiation of each individual nano-antenna. Leveraging the existing simulation and design work on silicon waveguide nano-antennas, project team plans to design the antenna spacing and 2D configuration to achieve the optimized far-field radiation pattern with the best sidelobe suppression. The team also plans to realize a dense array of a 100-500-antenna 2-dimensional OPA system for an experimental proof-of-concept demonstration.
