Grants and Contributions

About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Agreement:

Co-development and testing of a neurorehabilitation program using a soft robotic glove among adults with sensorimotor hand impairments following a stroke

Agreement Number:

1002435

Duration: from Mar 1, 2023 to Jan 15, 2027
Description:

Most people who sustain a stroke have partial or complete paralysis of one hand which causes difficulties when performing functional and recreational activities. These difficulties often persist even after completing an intensive rehabilitation program. The persistence of these difficulties is explained in part by clinical and administrative constraints and challenges encountered by rehabilitation professionals when attempting to implement evidence-based practices and emerging technologies to optimize functional recovery of the hand. Nowadays, the use of a soft robotic glove, coupled with a virtual reality environment, represents a promising and affordable solution to intensify and personalize the hand-specific rehabilitation programs while overcoming the constraints experienced by rehabilitation professionals. The goal of this project is to co?develop and test a home-delivered neurorehabilitation program relying on a virtual reality environment that supports the use of the soft-robotic Dexmo glove to facilitate the implementation of rehabilitation interventions underpinning evidence-based therapy and maximizing user’s autonomy at home

Agreement:

Tool path generation and optimization platform for multi-axis processes with parameterization at geometric kernel level

Agreement Number:

1002436

Duration: from Mar 1, 2023 to Feb 28, 2026
Description:

In this project, the goal is to reduce the errors between a modelled object and the real object manufactured by an additive or incremental process by proposing innovative tools for generating more accurate and versatile trajectories. Initially, the project will address the problem of error compensation by deformation of parts in computer-aided design (CAD). The objective is to have an efficient and rich CAD reconstruction tool to allow geometric compensation of errors related to the manufacturing process and thus improve the final accuracy of the parts. Subsequently, the parametric cutting of the CAD object will be considered as well as the tool paths that are required for additive or incremental processes. NRC’s contribution will focus on process simulation and industry-relevant CAD object data.
