The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to continue to:
• Provide central coordination and lead collaboration activities with clinical trials groups/networks in a transparent and inclusive manner to increase the availability of high-quality and real-time clinical trial evidence to prevent, diagnose, and/or treat COVID-19 (e.g., through clinical trials of vaccines, therapeutics, or diagnostic tests);
• Collaborate across member networks to expand resource and data sharing policies, including creating data sharing agreements and increasing efficiencies in research and related processes (including, but not limited to ethics review; contracts; common protocols; developing applications for trial funding; consistent and valid patient-oriented outcomes), reduce duplication, and maximize research impact for COVID-19;
• Enhance local, national and/or international clinical trial collaborative efforts by aligning clinical trials networks with other COVID-19 research investments to prevent and/or mitigate the rapid spread of COVID-19 and related negative consequences; and
• Engage stakeholders in research prioritization and oversight, provide evidence to inform clinical/ health system management and public health responses, and/or decision-making and planning within and across jurisdictions in Canada and internationally.

The specific objective(s) of this funding opportunity are to continue to:

• Accelerate the knowledge mobilization of high-quality and real-time evidence and/or solutions that responds to an identified evidence need(s) to support Canada’s ongoing response to the pandemic in order to better prevent, detect, treat and manage COVID-19; and
• Generate evidence related to one or more diverse population(s), by addressing, for instance: health equity considerations, health status (e.g. high risk populations, individuals with comorbid conditions), sex and gender, a life cycle approach (from children to aging adults), and/or the needs of racialized or First Nations, Inuit, Metis and Urban Indigenous populations to equitably improve health outcomes across the lifecycle.

Note: It is expected that, where appropriate, projects will enhance local, national and/or international collaborative efforts, including in low- and middle-income countries, to mitigate the rapid spread of COVID-19 and related negative consequences.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

• Support an adaptive platform trial that is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness (including comparative clinical and cost-effectiveness), practical challenges, and outcomes of administering therapeutics for COVID-19 to non-hospitalized patients in Canadian healthcare settings using well-structured studies and well-defined outcome measures (e.g., the Core Outcomes Set (COS) for Trials in People With Coronavirus Disease 2019);
• Generate evidence on treatment effectiveness diverse populations. These can include: communities marginalized by race; First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Peoples; communities historically excluded from research; those experiencing health inequities; persons with disabilities and individuals across diverse health status (e.g. vaccination status, high risk populations, individuals with comorbid conditions); those experiencing gendered impacts of the pandemic; and those in life stages that have been underrepresented in research. Across all populations, researchers are encouraged to consider a lifecycle approach (from preconception to older adulthood) where relevant and appropriate to the known safety profile of the treatments; and
• Provide rapid evidence to inform clinical and health system management and public health response, and/or decision-making and planning within and across jurisdictions in Canada and internationally.

to support planning activities, partnership development and to increase understanding of the health research landscape that will contribute to the advancement of research consistent with the mandate of CIHR;
to support dissemination events and activities that focus on the communication of health research evidence to the appropriate researcher or knowledge-user audiences, tailoring the message and medium as appropriate; and
to support activities and events that ensure the inclusion and meaningful representation of individuals who have historically faced barriers in the research ecosystem, including but not limited to those marginalized by gender, Indigenous Peoples, racialized minorities, persons with disabilities, and members of LGBTQ2S+ communities.
