Falls and accidents are the leading cause for injury-related hospitalizations among Canadian seniors, and often become a main obstacle to independent living. Falls are often caused by a combination of multiple factors. For example, a decline in vision in combination with limited mobility due to arthritis might contribute to a stumble over a carpet edge. To prevent falls, the person-specific risk factors need to be addressed as early as possible. Commonly, movement and activity assessments for fall predictions are performed in clinics or emergency departments and therefore provide only single snapshots of the person’s movement pattern. This method has limited ability to detect small changes in mobility and movement patterns.

The aim of this project is to investigate fully automatic methods to detect multifactorial falls in an in-home environment. Data from different in-home sensors, such as cameras or movement detectors, will be used to analyze movement and activity patterns for each inhabitant of the household to detect abnormalities related to an increased risk of falling or accidents. Output of these methods can support early targeted interventions, with a possible decrease of the number of falls of seniors living in community dwellings. Therefore, the project has the potential to reduce fall-related premature nursing home admission, which is in alignment with the overall objective of the AiP Challenge Program.

Engineered Code intends to employ a resource with sales and marketing experience to create and implement a sales and marketing strategy for the Firm's learning management system.

Technological Scale-up through the Development and Improvement of New and Existing Products and

The project will employ a youth candidate in support of optimizing the production of fresh hepatocytes isolated from chimeric mice with humanized liver.
Proposed candidate will support the PXB-cell production. That includes hands on hepatocyte isolations and preparations of PXB-cells.
Proposed candidate will be provided with full training in all procedures related to cell isolation.
Proposed candidate will be provided with training in chimeric mouse transplantations.
Proposed candidate will perform all cell isolations procedures as well as cell plating and mouse transplants.
Proposed candidate will perform cells stability measurements.

The Viperfish + Secure Cloud solution is a 100% weather proof system, capable of providing real-time secure video streaming from anywhere between earth’s atmosphere to 500 metres in depth. Using cutting edge streaming technologies, it will enable the lowest possible latency from anywhere in the world. The primary goal of the Viperfish is to provide a system that can be integrated into ROVs, AUVs, USVs, ships, buoys, autonomous monitoring stations, and diver operations. Due to its small size and robust housing, the Viperfish camera will be able to easily attach to any vehicle, device or monitoring station that can directly connect to the internet where it can uplink via a low-bandwidth satellite connection to SubC Imaging's Stream Cloud.
