Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

XRISM Guest Scientist (XGS) Program for the Perseus Cluster Performance Verification (PV) Target. Measuring gas motions using a multi-wavelength approach and novel machine learning tools
22EXPXRISM
One of the primary objectives of XRISM is to understand the gas motions of the Perseus cluster of galaxies and how these connect to the black hole feedback processes. We propose a collaboration that will bring a unique set of expertise and observations. We will build a recurrent inference machine (i.e. a type of neural network) that can successfully deconvolve the intrinsic X-ray spectrum of a source from the XRISM instrumental response function. Overall, this collaboration will significantly enhance the XRISM science case for Perseus, and more generally, galaxy clusters.

London Regional Children's Museum Space Exhibit Update
23STEMCA2
This project objective is to update the permanent Space exhibit to feature more current information related to Canada’s participation in present and future endeavours related to Moon exploration, such as Artemis Missions and the Lunar Gateway. In this exhibit, children will have the opportunity to learn about the process of designing and building technology such as the Canadarm3, other Gateway modules, and lunar rover components; transporting people into space and to the Moon via the Artemis Missions; and how ongoing research can be applied to the wider exploration of the galaxy. The exhibit refresh will also expand children’s interest in moon-related topics through hands-on exploration of engaging materials.
