About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Description:

Through this 39-month project, the Bonnyville Canadian Native Friendship Centre will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, with a focus in Bonnyville and surrounding Northern communities. This will be achieved by introducing culturally relevant ways of gathering feedback via internal and external engagement possibilities and by delivering information through sharing circles and ceremonies with community members, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers. The organization will determine its HR requirements, build evidence for policy change, gather knowledge for its future program needs, in addition to increasing collaboration with different Indigenous communities to end violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.

By the end of the project, the Bonnyville Canadian Native Friendship Centre will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.

The project aims to increase security and safety for women, girls, men, and boys in Ukraine. The project supports the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MoIA) and the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) to effectively respond to the security needs of the population in the face of Russian aggression.
Project activities include: (1) providing technical assistance and equipment to the NPU to efficiently address cases of conflict-related sexual violence; (2) providing advice and guidance to the NPU and MoIA on meeting the requirements for Ukraine’s European Union accession to police reform; (3) providing support to expand and increase the sustainability of the police peer-to-peer psychological health community of practice and enable the police to provide psychological health first aid to conflict-affected communities; (4) increasing the NPU capacity to adapt and implement the community policing national strategy and efficiently address public safety issues related to the war; and (5) expanding a community safety hubs network that unite police and community stakeholders in responding to safety issues identified in their communities, including in newly-liberated areas and conflict-affected communities.
