Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Tracking Transphobia: Identifying and countering anti-trans organizing in Canada
SO220227
Through this 14-month project, JusticeTrans will develop community-informed solutions to key barriers and gaps facing by 2SLGBTQI+ communities. This will be achieved by identifying, documenting, and tracking anti-trans organizing in Canada, and developing safety solution to address it.
JusticeTrans will conduct in-depth consultations and a pan-Canadian environmental scan in collaboration with women’s organizations and Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming (2STNBGN) advocates and service providers, including health and mental health providers, and school boards targeted by anti-trans violence. Anti-hate research training will be provided to its research team, which will be made available to researchers and scholars. Based on the needs identified and the data collected on anti-trans organizing efforts, the organization will create resources to safely respond to anti-trans hate and lobbying, in collaboration with key partners from 2SLGBTQI+ communities. Educational events will be held in Ottawa, Regina, and Halifax to raise awareness on these issues and provide safe spaces to 2STNBGN organizations and individuals to share their stories and experiences.
Within this project, JusticeTrans will work with decision makers as part of its advocacy strategy to protect the rights of trans people in Canada, to improve the understanding of organized anti-trans hate, to increase empathy toward 2STNBGN people, and to build support from allies. Thus, the project will contribute to changing cultural norms and behaviours and to encourage decision-makers to implement new policy and practices. At the end of the project, JusticeTrans will submit an advocacy strategy, a sustainability plan, and an evaluation plan and disseminate its results on communication platforms and in academic journals.

Rydberg atom sensors for space applications
1013589
The main objective of the project is to develop Rydberg atom-based radio frequency (RF) sensors for applications in space. The initial studies show that Rydberg atom-based sensors are poised to outperform classical technology in almost all relevant metrics. The project team will perform feasibility checks, do a performance analysis, propose a high-level instrument architecture, survey requirements and carry-out proof-of-concept experiments to evaluate Rydberg atom-based sensors for spaceborne radar during the program period.

Smoker Technical Feasibility Study
1000978
Based on preliminary research SureShot believes there is a market opportunity to develop an electric food smoker for consumer use. Smoking food using current products on the market can be quite complex and time consuming requiring the cook to manage many inputs. Due to its complexity, smoking is not a desirable activity for your average cook. Our vision is to take the mystery and complexity out of smoking food the way that Instant Pot took the mystery out of pressure cooking. Our product offering will have broad market appeal because we will make the act of smoking simple and hassle free while still delivering delicious food. Our smoker will be built to last and will use precision temperature controls and probes to deliver a consistent smok
