The purpose of this CanExport SMEs agreement is to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for activities related to export market development that are part of an export business case for a specific target market, particularly where activities are targeting departmental priority markets and sectors.

The project includes 3 phases 1. Harvesting tunicate by-catch from blue mussel aquaculture and processing the biomass into a consistent semi dry pulp like material. 2. Extracting cellulose from the "Tunicate pulp" . 3 Processing the tunicate cellulose into nano materials which will be a commercial products for sale. These included cellulose nano fibrals and nano crystals.

The process was demonstrated at the "research bench" level by Dr. Matthew Dunlop while developing his PhD thesis with 100 Kg of Cellulose Nano Crystals being made. Tunistrong is currently scaling the initial process into a commercially viable pilot manufacturing process.

The purpose of this CanExport Innovation agreement is to support Canadian organizations to carry out activities related to pursuing opportunities that would lead to establishing new collaborative Research and Development (R&D) partnerships between the Recipient and foreign organizations in order to support R&D on the Recipient’s technology and advance its commercialization.

To build the necessary infrastructure that will allow Toja to scale without business interruptions. This will be achieved with three main objectives, 1. improving our Textiles Canadian manufacturing facility, 2. automating our warehouse shipping and receiving, and 3. creating an IT system to facilitate and support operations. The Canadian manufacturing facility will allow Toja to reshore production to Canada. The warehouse improvements will allow for less errors and improve reporting, visibility and efficiency. The IT system will allow for improvements to efficiency, effectiveness and reduce waste and errors allowing more money to stay in the business and facilitate growth.
