The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

• Establish a Pan-Canadian Clinical Trials Consortium that will enhance connections between domestic and international clinical trial networks to create efficiencies of scale and support high quality trials that are designed and sized to maximize their impact;
• Increase the impact of clinical trials through improved research design, increased recruitment, and enhanced clinical trial network capacity in Canada, including through the development and seed funding of new clinical trial networks where there are currently gaps;
• Build clinical trial capacity through training, mentorship, methods development, and information-sharing across member networks and other components of the CTF;
• Maximize research impact and knowledge mobilization¿within and beyond the Consortium to help ensure evidence is integrated in and used to inform health policy, decision making and planning; and
• Advance equitable access¿to clinical trials for Canadians regardless of geography, race/ethnicity, and socioeconomic status.

The purpose of these funds is to provide the institution responsible for administering the Team Grant: Pan-Canadian Clinical Trials Consortium, with funding for indirect costs associated with hosting the CT Network as the Funding Opportunity was not eligible for consideration in the Research Support Fund program.

• Support the development of skills that increase the likelihood of employability and career prospects of trainees, researchers, healthcare professionals and clinical research professionals across sectors, by integrating training on:
o approaches to advance rigorous and responsible research (e.g., product development from discovery to commercialization; best practices in clinical trial design, recruitment, conduct and reporting; sex- and gender-based analysis plus [SGBA+] (WSC:#moreInformation); research data management, research involving Indigenous Peoples, ethics, unconscious bias, life cycle/life stage approaches to clinical trials);
o grant/proposal writing, budgeting, and peer review;
o Professional development skills (including transferrable skills, such as communication, analytical thinking, problem solving, project management, leadership, etc.);
o best practices in knowledge translation and implementation science; and
o diverse career options and opportunities available across the different sectors (private/for profit, public and not-for-profit)

• Support research teams across the country in conducting clinical trials that apply intersectional study design, primary data collection, and analyses so that the outcomes and health benefits of these trials can be applied to Canada’s diverse population;
• Support the participation of Canadian sites in international clinical trials;
• Promote relevant collaborations across disciplines, professions, and sectors; and
• Contribute to the creation and use of health-related knowledge.
