Improving health and wellbeing of 5,000 marginalized adolescent girls and women in tribal communities of Telangana, India, through menstrual health and hygiene management (MHM) and awareness on Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

This project aims to increase the adaptation of young rural women and their communities to climate change in the Guéra province of Chad. The project also contributes to strengthening the skills and effectiveness of groups and cooperatives in developing climate-smart food systems with and for young women groundnut and sesame producers.

Project activities include: (1) training women in peanut and sesame production in soil restoration and conservation techniques adapted to water stress and based on improved local knowledge; (2 ) implementing community reforestation and restoration campaigns for strategic aquatic and wetland ecosystems. This is for adaptation to climate change based on nature-based solutions that meet the needs of young women groundnut and sesame producers and their communities; (3) supporting groups and cooperatives in developing high-value marketing channels for young women producers; and (4) setting up pilot leadership laboratories supporting innovative and non-traditional social, economic and environmental initiatives of young rural women in the field of Climate Change Adaptation.

The direct beneficiaries of the project are 5,000 people, mainly women peanut and sesame farmers, and their communities, including 3,500 women and young women and 1,500 men and young men. Indirect beneficiaries are estimated at more than 45,000 family members of the direct project beneficiaries.

This project aims to increase the resilience of rural communities, especially women and youth, to climate change by sustainably improving biodiversity and connectivity of strategic ecosystems. The conservation of ecosystems, biodiversity and the benefits derived from them, also implies improving the effectiveness of members of farmers' organizations and cooperatives, to develop agroforestry value chains that respect biodiversity and are adapted to climate change. And finally, in a context marked by conflicts, the sustainability of the results implies an increased commitment of local communities, in favor of an inclusive and equitable governance of natural resources.
This project, based on a nexus approach, will promote access to sustainable economic opportunities and the reduction of inequalities, especially for women and youth, in order to counter threats from climate change and desertification, but also extremism. This project will directly benefit over 10,000 people, of whom 8,000 are women in 12 communities; 12 farmer organizations; and 200 community leaders in Burkina Faso’s Sahel region.

Designed as a multi-donor program, and in partnership with the Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), the project provides grant funding and technical assistance to accelerate the development and scale-up of climate finance solutions in developing countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. The key objective of the project is to contribute to the development of a pipeline of investable solutions aimed at achieving climate change mitigation and adaptation outcomes, in sectors such as clean energy, climate-smart agriculture and nature-based solutions. It also includes mobilizing resources, particularly from the private sector, for the sustainable development goals.

Project activities include: (1) delivering grant funding to selected applicants to structure, launch, and expand their blended finance solution; (2) providing technical assistance to selected applicants to develop their capacities to ensure their blended finance vehicles can generate business traction and accelerate the mobilization of capital; and (3) developing a learning hub as a critical knowledge platform, capturing learnings and ensuring knowledge transfer to various actors, thus creating synergies and increasing efficiencies in the climate finance ecosystem.

The project’s direct beneficiaries are selected individuals and institutions implementing climate finance solutions in developing countries. These actors contribute to addressing the impacts of climate change and increasing the capacity of economically disadvantaged groups, including women and girls, by financing projects with climate mitigation and adaptation as the main intended impacts. Between 14 to 20 grantees are expected to be supported by the end of the project.
