Community Support, Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Initiatives Program - Multi Inter-Action - Events

This project supports the implementation of Senegal’s Program for Improving Quality, Equity and Transparency in Education and Training (PAQUET-EF). This Program aims to improve learning outcomes, strengthen the coverage, diversification and equity of the education and training system, and implement transparent and effective management of the sector. The objective is to ensure that boys and girls in Senegal, including the most vulnerable, can exercise their right to quality education.

As with all budget support projects, Canada is working in close cooperation with other donors and the Government of Senegal to promote effective, transparent, and accountable country systems; increase donor coordination and harmonization; and strengthen mutual accountability. Budget support also fosters greater policy dialogue among donors, government, and partners, which helps to strengthen efforts for effective, focussed aid, and long-term development results. This project is continuously monitored and evaluated in coordination with other donors.

This project supports the Office of the Special Envoy to the Secretary General (OSESG) in Myanmar to address critical gaps in strategic communications. With Canada’s support, the Special Envoy' office seeks to establish a strategic communication unit consisting of: (1) a communications and media officer; and (2) a Myanmar communications and analysis officer. Since the military coup in February 2021, there has been a proliferation of mis- and disinformation campaigns targeting internally displaced people, refugees and peacebuilders inside and outside the country. It is critical that the OSESG produces timely, credible, and transparent communications. Project activities include: (1) supporting the Special Envoy’s Office to ensure accurate and transparent messaging is communicated to intended audiences; and (2) reporting through local and international media to cover Special Envoy’s narratives and activities accurately and constructively.

This is a grant to support the study with AstroSat of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), NGC 205 and five other nearby galaxies by combining UVIT and Hubble Space Telescope observations. The grant will also support the study with AstroSat of the X-ray binary source Her X-1 and investigate the structure of its accretion disk.

This grant will fund a project dedicated to UVIT imaging of a sample of nearby galaxies with the goal of measuring radiative heating and study how the absorbed light can disrupt star formation and even slow down or halt galaxy evolution.

This grant will fund a study by UVIT aboard AstroSat of the ultraviolet light emitted by a sample of low surface brightness spiral galaxies, combined with data from other telescopes to understand the current and past properties of these enigmatic galaxies.

The primary goal of the CubeSats Initiative in Canada for STEM (CUBICS) project will be to develop high-level skills in aspiring professionals in the space sector. It will concentrate on improving their individual competence as well as their ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary projects. Concurrently, the project will have objectives in science and technology, collaborative work and STEM promotion, such as: •Continue to provide space oriented high-level skills trainings and form future space industry professionals •Continue to contribute to space-related sciences and technological developments.

Mitigate the impacts of the total seal products ban imposed by the European Union (EU). This program is designed to assist Canadian Indigenous peoples access the EU market using the Indigenous exemption, and to assist the commercial seal products industry develop and renew access to other markets.

The overarching goal (purpose) is to support enhancements in marine safety and marine environmental protection in Canadian waters, while embracing the concepts of co-development and sustainable economic development.
