This 29-month project will support a feminist response to and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19 through systemic changes. To achieve this, the Société Elizabeth Fry du Québec intends to diagnose and document issues related to women’s living conditions at the Joliette Institution for Women, issues rooted in gender and exacerbated by the pandemic. The Société Elizabeth Fry du Québec will then create and implement a multi-sectoral action plan as well as identify and mobilize institutional, community, and political stakeholders who have an interest in the issues under study in order to motivate them to act and bring about real change in this discriminatory system.

By the end of the project, the organization will have helped address systemic barriers by advancing inclusive policies and practices, and by expanding networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change in support of women’s equality.

The objective of this project is to provide a youth with some work experience in the agriculture and agri-food sector.

Enhancing the capacity of women and girls to effectively prevent and respond to Gender Based Violence and other harmful traditional practices in Narok and Bomet Counties through trainings, socio-economic empowerment and awareness raising.

Promoting the registration and documentation rights for Intersex, Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Refugees and Asylum Seekers’ in Kenya through research, training and awareness raising campaigns

Enhancing the capacity of women and girls to promote and uphold women and girls’ rights in Kismayo, Jubbaland through training, community dialogue forms and awareness raising

A five-month Fellowship with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Defense College based in Rome, Italy to provide research support on defence and security issues related to NATO and Canada.

Improving Validation of Earth System Models

The objective of the SDG Funding Program is to support sustainable development projects that:
• Support the development and utilization of effective approaches to address sustainable development and the social, economic and environmental issues and challenges;
• Develop, exchange and apply knowledge, tools and resources that address sustainable development needs of individuals, families and communities;
• Foster partnerships and networks to address sustainable development and the existing and emerging social, economic and environmental issues;
• Recognize and support the ability of organizations to identify and address sustainable development priorities;
• Recognize and promote engagement initiatives at the international, national, subnational, and/or local level that mobilize assets and develop capacities and resources for action; and/or
• Foster Indigenous traditional knowledge on sustainable development.

The AlgaSpace cultivation system harnesses the power of microalgae to deliver a sustainable nutrient-rich food supply. It leverages biofilm-based growth for high-density, low-water cultivation of a programmable microalgae to produce foods with different nutrient profiles, flavours and textures including smoothies, pastes, pastas and flakes. The platform not only produces a nutritious food supply but it can also use waste from urination, digestion and respiration as feedstocks for bioproduction thereby closing a sustainability loop necessary for prolonged travel or operations in space.

While meant to address the supply of fresh nutritious food for astronauts, the chamber could be installed in remote areas or harsh environments to improve food security around the world.
