Grants and Contributions

The TiC team grants are expected to:
• Produce results that are applicable, adaptable and ready for equitable spread and/or scale (sharing) by a healthcare or community care provider through implementation research that is relevant to clients/patients/families, communities, and decision-makers;
• Improve health outcomes, client/patient experiences, effectiveness, and lower the cost of care within two or more of the TiC focus areas through identifying, evaluating and implementing evidence-based and/or effective interventions;
• Build novel multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary collaborations and partnerships with individuals, communities and organizations in Canada that have interest in transformative research in care transitions by promoting engagement, recognition and respect for health research expertise across an array of health disciplines, research pillars, and industry; and,
• Build and promote relevant transitions in care research capacity, including training and early career development by supporting teams that actively engage established researchers, new investigators, trainees, and knowledge users.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:
• To provide recognition and funding to academic researchers;
• To provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers.

The Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s (CGS M) Program helps develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies.

The goal of the Data Analysis Grants is to use existing cohorts, data platforms and/or administrative datasets to advance healthy cities intervention research and implementation science specifically by addressing one or more of the following objectives:
• Evaluating the impact on health and health equity of interventions to the physical, social or policy environment (including health system–mediated interventions);
• Contributing analyses to inform the planning of physical, social or policy interventions with the purpose of improving urban population health or health equity;
• Addressing critical contextual questions related to the implementation of one or more interventions and scaling up of evidence-based interventions (including health system-mediated interventions);
• Filling knowledge gaps that are critical for laying the foundation for future population health intervention research in urban areas. For example, increasing our understanding around how interventions may impact populations differentially according to gender, age, race, culture, ethnicity, income, or dis/ability;
• Developing and/or validating indicators and other data or evaluation tools that enable robust, comparable, replicable and equitable healthy cities intervention research and implementation science (including health system-mediated interventions).

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

¿ to support high quality research aligned with priorities identified in the Chief Public Health Officer¿of Canada’s¿annual report in order to strengthen public health systems in Canada and improve population health and health equity;
¿ to strengthen links between researchers, knowledge users and decision-makers, including communities, and facilitate responsive and evidence-informed decision-making on key public health issues; and
¿ to strengthen capacity to generate and apply context-specific knowledge in order to build more effective and equitable public health systems.

Not a Project (Mandated or Core Funding)

Building on a previous project, the Yukon Native Language Centre (YNLC) will continue the digitization of priority materials identified by 10 Yukon First Nations (YFNs) and to work with the four YFNs that were unable to participate in the initial program. This project will continue to identify and digitize priority recordings of their First Nations languages.

The project’s main goals:
1) Through collaboration with experts in digitization, the project will strengthen local YFN capacity for digitizing and archiving audiocassette recordings of YFN languages at the YNLC, an established regional hub for First nations language revitalization, documentation, and education in the Yukon.
2) Through continued collaboration with all 14 YFNs, the project will identify and improve access to high-impact audio language recordings by Elders and speakers in YNLC’s archival collections, providing valuable resources for First Nations language revitalization and education initiatives throughout the territory.

This project's main goal is to purchase digitization equipment to start the digitization process of preserving over 60 large family history scrolls, which contain handwritten family trees and the xwelmexw names found on the charts and in the family history records housed in the Stó:lo Genealogy Office.

The project focuses on preservation and skill building at the Gesgapegiag Interpretation Centre. A small steering committee of four members will be established to guide the project, along with the involvement of eight Elders. Together, they will build a network of resources to support different aspects of the project. Mentors and technical experts will also participate to assist with skill building and training in widely used preservation methods, including media migration, proper storage and handling of materials, document and photograph classification, and the use of software to restore or repair images. The project will prioritize items at risk of being lost and systematically categorize the digital collection.

This project will develop a model to promote standardization and coordination of existing Family Law Advocacy programs in BC for victims of intimate partner violence who are involved in the family justice system.
