Through this 43-month project, Empowering Indigenous Women for Stronger Communities Inc. (EIWFSC) will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, with a focus on Peer Facilitators and Youth in the rural areas around Stephenville, NL. This will be achieved by building a strong organizational governance structure: developing a clear set of policies and procedures, by-laws and constitution, and a strategic plan.

The project will aim to build the capacity of both the board of directors and Indigenous men and women Peer Facilitators from a leadership development perspective, and to foster collaborative working relationships between these groups and the Indigenous community. EIWFSC will also engage with Indigenous youth to develop a Lateral Violence training program. All of these initiatives are to be carried out through a GBA Plus lens, especially where community consultation and project delivery are concerned.

At the end of the project, EIWFSC will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, with a focus on peer-to-peer learning and leadership development in Indigenous men and youth.

Supplemental funds were provided to allow EIWFSC to train and support Peer Facilitators in Labrador, NL.

The Project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the Firm.

This project will create frameworks of tools that enable the development and management of SMART (Substitutable Medical Applications and Reusable Technologies) on FHIR (Fast Health Interoperability Resources) applications. These tools enable faster, lower cost, standards-based implementation of interoperability solutions for healthcare organizations and application vendors.

Project Summary:
This project proposes a feasibility study of the establishment of a compound semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in Canada composed of a foundry and all other elements required to produce known good and secure semiconductor devices. It also provides recommendations on where to focus attention in order to address shortcomings based on industry shared experience. The report proposes to setup a framework that follows Design Thinking methodology in approaching the ecosystem. It will review Best Practices in funding from existing frameworks like Eureka, NRC IRAP and IMEC.

The Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) are meant to nurture the interest of the students and fully develop their potential for a research career in the natural sciences and engineering. They are also meant to encourage students to undertake graduate studies in these fields. Students who would like to gain research experience in an academic setting, these awards can provide financial support through the hosting university. NSERC encourages qualified Aboriginal students to apply to this program.

The purpose of this CanExport SMEs agreement is to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for activities related to export market development that are part of an export business case for a specific target market, particularly where activities are targeting departmental priority markets and sectors.
