Develop central district hub and common space in Regina - Budget 2021

The purpose of this contribution is to provide funding for the installation of an emergency alert system, an intrusion/panic-duress system, window security film, anti-vehicle ramming bollards and training for the emergency alert system.

To acquire install and deploy technologies for managing traffic and transportation To construct and/or rehabilitate transportation infrastructure to support the movement of goods and people

To improve rail infrastructure at road/rail grade crossings

Through this 59-month project, 2-Spirited People of the 1st Nations will increase their ability to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls, or 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, with a focus on 2-Spirited people, Indigenous women, girls, female-identifying, 2SLGBTQ+ people, including those living on a low-income, in Toronto. This will be achieved by conducting a needs assessment, designing GBV training resources, strengthening, and expanding their organizational network, and mentoring and coaching 2-Spirit staff, community members, and new and existing partners on GBV prevention.

This project will engage the Toronto Aboriginal Support Services Council (TASSC) and other community partners to improve networks and develop tools and policy around GBV prevention.

By the end of the project, 2-Spirits People of the 1st Nations will have strengthened their capacity to prevent GBV against Indigenous women, girls, female-identifying and 2SLGBTQ+ people, with a focus on 2-Spirited people.

With the Supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, 2-Spirited People of the 1st Nations will 1) develop and pilot an internal Train the Trainer model to build in house GBV training capacity, incorporating staff feedback to refine the training tools; and 2) review, update, and implement internal GBV related policies and materials informed by Phase I and internal pilot testing to support continuous improvement and safer practices. Through this they will further advance Gender Equality.

Through this 40-month project, the Aboriginal Women’s Association of PEI (AWAPEI) will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls, or 2SLGBTQQIA+ people. This will be achieved by implementing the organization’s strategic plan, by improving AWAPEI’s and its membership’s ability to address GBV, and by strengthening the organizational governance, communication, financial management and project management capacity.

By the end of the project, AWAPEI will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people in Prince Edward Island.

Through this 29-month project, Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child and Family Services will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people in Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child and Family Service’s catchment area. Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child and Family Service’s catchment area spans 35,000 square kilometres: from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory in the east to Beausoleil First Nation in the west, and as far as north as Bancroft. Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child and Family Service will achieve their project by: recruiting and hiring full-time Anti-Human Trafficking Liaison Workers; conducting internal and external environmental scans and engaging with Indigenous communities to determine needs, address barriers, and align services; creating a regional human trafficking resource guide; developing and providing training internally to staff and externally to social service organizations to develop organizational capacity; and producing a written report and advocacy strategy to share findings with the community and to relevant government officials.

By the end of the project, Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child and Family Services will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people.

This will be achieved by improving its organizational capacity through developing a community consultation plan to address and prevent GBV; collaborating with strategic partners; creating and implementing a new strategic plan to prevent and address GBV; increasing financial sustainability; reviewing and updating policies and procedures; and creating communications tools to support more effective GBV programming.

By the end of the project, Orillia Native Women’s Group will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women and 2SLGBTQI+ people in Orillia.
