Through this 12-month project, Gookumnouch Advisory Paataksuun will increase its ability to prevent or address gender-based violence against Indigenous women, girls, or 2SLGBTQI+ people. This will be achieved by becoming incorporated, by developing by-law and policy and by reviewing potential sources of revenue.

By the end of the project, Gookumnouch Advisory Paataksuun will have strengthened their capacity to prevent or address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people.

With the Supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, Brantford Native Housing will 1) increase functionality of the dashboard created in Phase I to implement an advanced staff performance and accountability system; 2) co-create and institutionalize an Indigenous GBV-informed Mentorship Model for staff; 3) strengthen governance and operational systems to sustain inclusive and accessible GBV programming; 4) create a social enterprise business plan and social innovation model; 5) create an Indigenous GBV Awareness and Early Warning Education Initiative (MMIWG-Informed); and 6) build tools to support regional health & community systems integration.

Through this 60-month project, the Newfoundland Aboriginal Women’s Network (NAWN) will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people in Newfoundland and Labrador. This will be achieved by identifying advocacy challenges and opportunities, creating a GBV advocacy strategy and a communication plan, increasing the organization’s capacity to communicate community needs and GBV prevention opportunities, building relationships with 2SLGBTQQIA+ organizations and like-minded organizations, and developing a GBV support and prevention plan.

By the end of the project, NAWN will have strengthened its capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people in Newfoundland and Labrador.

With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, NAWN will further strengthen its capacity to address GBV by training staff, board of directors, volunteers and Indigenous women on GBV prevention, crisis response protocols, evaluation and reporting, partnership development, and other capacity-building skills. The organization will also strengthen its financial sustainability by developing their social enterprises and exploring funding opportunities for growth to support future projects, such as the Cultural Healing and Wellness Centre and an extended supportive housing plan.

Through this 30-month project, People of the Dawn Indigenous Friendship Centre will increase its ability to prevent or address gender-based violence (GBV) against women, girls, or 2SLGBTQQIA+ people. This will be achieved by conducting an organizational and community-based needs assessment, by leading research on capacity-building learning opportunities and emerging support trends, by sustaining collaboration with community partners, and by completing an internal evaluation to identify improvements and best practices for continued self-assessment and growth.

Partners involved are well-known to the organization and have contributed to the promotion of services through networks, partnered in project delivery, and acted in an advisory capacity. This project will also help create a shared foundation for all levels of the organization for GBA Plus to inform future practices and policies.

By the end of the project, People of the Dawn Indigenous Friendship Centre will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people in western Newfoundland.

Reaching Home aims to prevent and reduce homelessness across Canada. This is accomplished by mobilizing partners at the federal, provincial/territorial and community levels, as well as the private and voluntary sectors, and other stakeholders, to address barriers to well-being faced by those who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness.

Communities across Canada that have a significant issue with homelessness and will have increased supports for their vulnerable populations through Reaching Home.
