As part of their participation in the SheBoot program, additional funding is available to support the firm’s due diligence and data room creation.

This project contributes to improved gender-equitable and sustainable food systems for women, men and children in the most vulnerable communities of the Perico and Jovellanos municipalities in the province of Matanzas. To accomplish this, CARE Canada works in partnership with Cuban institutions, developing the capacities of governments and agricultural authorities to promote women’s leadership, strengthen local agri-food businesses and targeted value chains, provide essential nutrition education to community members, and ensure equitable access to nutritious and more affordable food.

Project activities include: (1) updating the participatory gender analysis of cooperatives and other organizations in the agri-food sector and designing and implementing a training program on gender and masculinities for women and men within these organizations; (2) elaborating and launching a campaign for gender equity, women’s leadership and positive masculinities in the local food systems; (3) designing and implementing a training plan on gender equality, women’s leadership and positive masculinity for institutional and government management teams; (4) providing technical assistance to governments and agricultural institutions for implementing and monitoring the National Plan for Food Sovereignty and Nutritional Education at the local level; and (5) providing technical assistance to farmers, especially women, in financial management, agro-ecological practices, climate smart agriculture, value chains and circular economy models.

The project aims to channel the creativity and the productivity of a new generation of students and young professionals, especially women, to contribute to poverty reduction and inclusive growth within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. More specifically, it seeks to deepen the knowledge and develop practical skills of students or mid-level professionals from the ASEAN region in areas of study that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Project activities include: (1) the provision of short-term (up to 8 months) scholarships for study/research for ASEAN students in Canadian post-secondary academic institutions in areas of study that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals; (2) the creation of institutional agreements between Canadian and ASEAN post-secondary academic institutions; (3) the provision of short-term scholarships for ASEAN mid-career professionals working in sectors that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to enhance their knowledge and skills in their area of work; and (4) the creation of an alumni network.

Youth sexual and reproductive health empowerment through comprehensive health services at the Maphalaneng Health Centre’s adolescent health corner.

Improving access to education post-cyclone through facilitating birth certificate obtention for 8,000 vulnerable primary school pupils in 5 rural municipalities amongst the worst affected by cyclone Batsirai and Emnati.

Digital Disruptors: equipping 10 young activists with the knowledge and tools to develop youth-led campaigns to increase understanding of the root causes of violence against women in gender-based violence (GBV) hotspots, Alexandra and Orange Farm townships, and mobilise 25,000 people to take action that will contribute to policy implementation, disrupt harmful social and cultural norms and patriarchal beliefs, and promote positive social change.

Reducing the barriers to access to education for girl learners in public schools through training and capacity building workshops and an advocacy campaign on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights and Sexual Harassment

Street Stories Films will partner with existing community organisations in the Eastern and Western Cape that focus on work around gender-based violence, to create three 15 min films per province, that talk about their experiences around GBV, with these films being broadcast nationally in the weekly series Street Talk.
