The immediate technical objective of the project would be to perform the R&D and product development for the next generation ESM product. Although leveraging existing capability, the R&D envisioned involves pushing existing limits and expanding the status of existing technology.

Early identification of cognitive decline allows for earlier intervention with appropriate care so that entry to long term care can be delayed. This project explores two non-invasive assessments (eye-tracking and speech patterns) that have potential for cognitive assessment. Specifically, the project will design a system to capture voice and eye-gaze data during tasks, with the goal of detecting speech and oculomotor abnormalities associated with cognitive decline. It will combine the two modalities and leverage multimodal analysis techniques to generate more sensitive predictions. The project will analyze combinations of tasks to achieve the assessment. The project will collect longitudinal data, to allow intra-subject analysis in addition to cross-sectional analysis to validate the performance of the system. The project will lead to a more cost-effective approach for assessment that could be done at home or remotely and that is an alternative to more expensive or invasive diagnostic testing currently being done.

Create an infrastructure for analyzing data using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Integrate the AI / ML findings into our existing products. Enhance our platform with Automated Accounts Payables, and Vendor Buying Agreements. Enhance our back-end architecture to allow us to provide functionality to a wider audience of users.

This International Co-Innovation Action Program (ICAP) project will prepare the firm to enter into future international co-innovation work.

Universal Matter Inc. is implementing an 18-month project that is aimed at creating a world-class Global Innovation Centre for its proprietary Flash Joule Heating process technology, which transforms carbon-containing waste into high value graphene materials. This IRAP project will focus on process and product development for field validation trials of the company’s unique turbostratic graphene in several strategic market applications (cement/concrete, bitumen asphalt/concrete, and plastics composites). Successful completion of this project will create significant new employment opportunities in Ontario for skilled talent in advanced materials and it will establish the new Burlington research facility as its global innovation centre.

This project will develop the integrated components for polarization splitting and rotation required by the quantum photonic circuits of the Small Teams Ideation fund project “Quantum Photonic Integrated Circuits for Quantum Interconnects”. To achieve the required performance, we will exploit machine learning techniques to develop a flexible design methodology for the optimization of device geometries with a large number of design parameters and incorporating subwavelength metamaterials. This will make it possible to optimize designs with multiple figures of merit and provide efficient multi-wavelength design capabilities.

IdeaSpark Labs/Beamdog is a successful video game publisher. This grant will support the Firm in hiring two new grad designers for future game development.

EnPowered will have the ability to ingest customer electricity usage data, calculate monetary savings, and map a customer’s utility tariffs to their account.

The objective of this project is to address the gaps in the solutions that are currently available on the market. These include:

- nailer reliability (uptime) is not adequate to support automated systems
- standard nailers are large and awkwardly shaped limiting access to many common nailing scenarios
- feeding systems are nonexistent so available run time is inhibited by the requirement to re-load nails

The goal of this project is to develop a nailing solution that will be marketed, sold, and supported like a product.

The project will produce a first version of a machine learning deployment protocol for long-term contracts with mining clients where mines will interact with Stratum’s technology in a scheduled, sustained way.
