The objective of this funding opportunity is to catalyze and support research efforts of Canadian researchers to use the available CLSA data in order to better understand how (individually and in combination) the biological, medical, psychological, social, lifestyle and/or economic aspects of people’s lives have an impact in both maintaining health and in the development of disease and disability as people age.

• CIHR and other funding agencies have invested heavily in the establishment of cohorts, databases, cohort catalogues, and data platforms. As a result, many high-quality data sets exist that contain a wealth of information and have the potential to answer research questions that go beyond those for which the data were originally collected or for which the data has been used to date.
• The CIHR Institute of Cancer Research (CIHR-ICR) will provide funding for applications or parts of applications that use data from the following: the Canadian partnership for Tomorrow’s Health OR the Canadian Urban Environmental Health Research Consortium (CANUE) and are relevant to CIHR-ICR’s mandate to support research that reduces the burden of cancer on individuals and families through prevention strategies, screening, diagnosis, effective treatments, psycho-social support systems, and palliation.

• This Priority Announcement will fund applications that are determined to be relevant to women’s health research, including but not limited to, endometriosis, fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome, pelvic floor dysfunction, ovarian cancer, non-hormonal female contraception and menopause.
• These one (1) year operating grants afford Early Career Researchers an opportunity to advance their women’s health research program.

• CIHR-IG will provide funding for applications that are determined to be relevant to its mandate:
o The Institute of Genetics (IG) supports research on the human and model genomes and on all aspects of genetics, basic biochemistry and cell biology related to health and disease, including the translation of knowledge into health policy and practice, and the societal implications of genetic discoveries

Since 1959, the Canadian Lung Association has funded research and research training at the national level to build research capacity in the field and to promote research that contributes to the field of respiratory health in Canada.

The overarching objective of this funding opportunity is to address the pressing needs of underserved youth populations, and their caregivers/families, in accessing equitable mental health and substance use services, through research on standards in various settings.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:
• Contribute to the evidence base on standards or guiding principles for mental health and/or substance use health services across diverse settings;
• Enable a Learning Health Systems approach for the delivery of mental health and substance use health services for youth, where standards can be continuously measured and adapted to meet the needs of the populations served;
• Mobilize evidence to inform policy and decision-making on the development of pan-Canadian standards in mental health and substance use health;
• Facilitate effective and meaningful engagement of knowledge users in research related to standards to ensure the perspectives of children, youth, young adults, and their caregivers/ families, among others, are considered in the development pan-Canadian standards.

To be relevant to the competition applications must address all three (3) objectives.

1. Support interdisciplinary research teams to improve scientific understanding of mpox (monkeypox) virus and/or other orthopoxviruses; and
2. Generate and mobilize evidence to inform prevention, control, and/or response efforts by policy makers, clinicians, public health actors and/or higher-risk communities in Canada and/or globally; and
3. Build and strengthen capacity in Canada to undertake interdisciplinary research on viral zoonotic infections of domestic or global origins.
