Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

TuxMat 3.0 – Manufacturing Expansion & Automation Initiative
1036887
TuxMat is working to bring its manufacturing operations in-house and onshore to Canada. This strategic move is driven by the company’s desire to gain greater control over product quality, production timelines, and material selection. By developing its own manufacturing capabilities, TuxMat aims to reduce reliance on overseas suppliers, improve operational efficiency, and enhance its ability to innovate and iterate quickly. This shift also supports the company’s commitment to sustainability and long-term growth, as it enables tighter integration between product development and production while positioning TuxMat to scale more effectively in North America.

Smart Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Commercial Energy Management System
1038174
With residential and commercial heating and cooling already amounting to nearly 20% of all energy consumed in the US and Canada, coupled with increasing demands on electricity grids from climate change, electric vehicles and data centers, grid operators are facing a major challenge.
This project will deliver advanced HVAC management solutions to the 6 million small-medium sized commercial spaces in North America that currently do not have a smart HVAC management system. Building from the firm's smart thermostats, this project aims to integrate smart sensors connected to a software platform that is optimized using machine learning AI to provide alerts, predictive maintenance and problem solve, whilst reducing costly truck rolls and HVAC inefficiency.
