Grants and Contributions

About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Description:

This 29-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change, supporting positive distribution of authority, voices, and decision-making power, advancing inclusive policies and practices, and encouraging more equitable and effective sharing of resources to support women’s equality.
This project will engage with survivors of GBV, partner organizations, academic institutions, the Peel Regional Police, officials at the regional and provincial level, as well as politicians to raise community awareness, advocate for more appropriate policies and practices, and disseminate reports, strategic plans and action plans.

Duration: from Oct 18, 2021 to Mar 31, 2024
Description:

This 30-month project will support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, through systemic change. The Young Women's Christian Organization Regina will achieve this by expanding implementation of the YWCA Upstander Education Program, expanding program delivery to rural areas, promoting and hosting the Week Without Violence campaign, developing and distributing awareness campaign materials, and community outreach. The project will unpack harmful gender norms and stereotypes impacting women and girls and develop emotional literacy, explore the intersections of power and priviledge in the workplace and address gender-based violence with allyship of men and boys in the community.

At the end of the project, the organization will have contributed to addressing systemic barriers by addressing persistent harmful gender norms and attitudes, and increasing networks and collaboration to accelerate systemic change to support women's equality.

The organization will partner with YWCA Saskatoon to extend the reach of the programming and awareness campaigns. Project success will be measured with surveys, as well as by tracking demographics and engagement.
